I think its unfair comparison both ways around. Some may argue that album sales were stronger back then, which is a valid argument. Some may argue that single sales are stronger these days & there are far more singles than albums (the ratio between them is actually 1:5), which is also another valid argument. IMO, there should definitely be a system that separates the old area from the digital area. Either way, no female artist will ever reach Madonna's level of impact / legacy she'll leave behind.
