There's another artist I really like who got trapped in a contract she didn't want with an American label. Specifically, Utada Hikaru (gigantic in Japan) had a two-album contract she wanted to cancel with Island Def Jam after the first album because she wasn't doing well here in the states and couldn't be bothered. So she released a pretty lazy/terrible second album that she admitted openly she put very little effort into, made one music video, gave five performances, and left IDJ in the dust.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Gaga started keeping a looser schedule for the next couple of years, if the label is driving her this nuts. I don't think she'll do the bare minimum like Utada did, but who could blame her for at least trying to stick it to the label if what we all think they've done is true?

I love Utada and i never knew she had such an issue. I personally enjoyed this is the one tbh

This thread should be deleted. Shes going to hate reading this if she does. WHEN YOU POST THINGS ONLINE ABOUT GAGA THINK ABOUT HOW IT WOULD FEEL IF YOU WERE IN HER PLACE.

but most of the post here show support to her  :awkney:

Exactly, someone educated me on this by pointing to Cake Like Lady Gaga as an example. She literally cannot release it. We always thought she was free but the truth is everything's managed by interscope even releasing songs like Stache and Stuck on ****in you, and probably even her performing Princess Die on tour.

ok I just didn't understant that, I don't get what's the problem for interscope if they don't want to release a ****ing song because they are not sure about its success, what's the problem on just leaking it and bye?

If that works like you say, I get what Gaga is feeling because she probably wanted to share other songs with us, songs that are special for her... but she can't. Ok.

But I still think the same. There are pros and cons...

And this is how it works tbh. I mean, Beyonce had 80 songs for her album and she has released 15. Every album has rejects... that's not like something new.

AND. I think that Gaga is one of the most free popstars out there. Maybe she needs more. But look at britney, katy or rihanna. They do nothing. Gaga is able to do, maybe less that she would like, but she's not going to get more in any other place...

Can someone fill me in on what is going on? If it isn't to much of a hassle. I'd read all 13 pages of this thread, but I'm in the middle of trimming my pubes.

It's not my job to make her feel completely happy and satisfied all of the time. It is her job to make others happy. She's the one getting paid for it.

This isn't about doing a job. It's about being a compassionate human being.

I'm between laughing my arse off and a double facepalm.

This is exactly what she means that she does not want to be seen as a product you just buy for your convenience.

Maybe this is a point for you to just get rid of you stan card and go back to KP.

Interscope is disappointed with ARTPOP's commercial performance and just want to have more control over what she releases.

That's it basically.

Almost everybody here is supporting her! Just a few people not doing so.

I'm definitely not missing the point.

I know she's sad. I think we all noticed.

I don't know what she's going through with the label right now, but I don't think the way she's handling this is the right way.

Well when you arrive at a low point you lash out. It's understandable tbh, I think it's healthy for her that she lets these things out. Of course this might damage her relationship with her label unless she's past that and doesn't care anymore.

OK, so I guess her sadness is keeping her from uploading DWUW to VEVO?

Again that's Interscope's choice. It's pretty obvious they have everything she releases on a leash.

again: I'm not supporting interscope instead of Gaga, I'm just trying to look at the big picture.

And no one here knows whats going on, that's why I'm (and others) trying to look at the problem with pros and cons for her.

That's not bashing Gaga, or not caring about her.

lol my excitement about meeting a fellow Utada fan is outweighed by the delusion. She said in an interview something along the lines of "I wrote it so quickly I didn't even have fun with it." And the Come Back to Me video was just shots of her and a hot guy sitting in a house, then Dirty Desire didn't even have a video. I mean you can like it as much as you want but objectively it's not good and by all accounts she seems to agree with me. The story of her relationship with IDJ is fact, not rumor.

I don't really care how you feel about the album or if it was sloppily put together or whatever, but I loved that album. It's not like Exodus or any of her Japanese albums, but it slayed. And it sold well in Japan. Honestly, I think TiTO was better lyrically (like Japanesey, really?), and even though musically Exodus was more interesting, I jammed the **** out when TiTO came out. And I saw her perform in NYC so

Gaga's sad and unhappy with her career atm. Is controlled too much by her label.

Atleast that's what I picked up from this mess.

but you can't forget that it's not just about Art it's about Pop as well. Gaga needs the projection, the financial support, and that is going to affect the art somehow. Hopefully it will work out because she really does need a big label behind her back. Lady Gaga is a product at the end of the day, a very artistic product, but a product nonetheless. If not she would be in the underground, but she chose the fame and the label. I'm confident that she'll find the right balance she needs though.

Oh come on, just look at some foreign pop stars who never make it but and are on,y known by a few thousands. The little sponsorships they gain is enough for them to make their fans happy. Gaga's big enough to rely on herself to release music. She won't be as big but that's not a bug deal.
