But HBO rarely does that, they always end series in the best notes possible, example: The Sopranos, and SATC 

Tbh though, the following is so large that GoT's quality would never decrease. They'd still have a massive budget because of their following and therefore, unless by some miracle the writers could no longer create good material, the show could continue with the same level of success post Season 8, imo.

Lets face it, Season 6 was the best we've had as show fans and it was (almost) entirely created by the show writers.

i'd rather the show end on the 8th season so it doesn't suffer the fate of ending because seasons 9 and over were awful and it has to be cancelled
