Other first single choices have been Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy and ARTPOP. 2. It wasn't Troy who chose Applause as the lead single, but Jimmy Iovine. 3. How is Applause trendy? I didn't know this! Some of you definitely have more solid evidence behind your posts than others.Things that are without a doubt correct:Â - DJWS said back in early 2013 or late 2012 that the first single was produced by a female. However, that does NOT make it Venus necessarily. - Gaga said Sexxx Dreams was going to be the first single, but that Troy fought for Applause. Obviously, this was over 6 months later and whatever DJWS tweeted about wasn't even being considered any more since a female producer was not the main producer of either song.
