Redstreak 6,653
Before there was Gaga there was Britney. Is so sad to see how she ended up. I wish her the best of luck and I hope that if she feels like retirement is the best thing to do, then she'll do it. But Britney Jean is a mess. Alien & Perfume are the only good songs on the album in my opinion. I don't see how people are giving it higher scores than ARTPOP. They aren't currently, she just has less reviews to drag her down. She could end up higher though. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

LaLuna 12,732
I'm not Britney's biggest fan, but I've always rooted for her to get better and be happy. I really wish she would take break from Hollywood and the music industry, to find herself instead of making run of the mill pop songs that sound like they are sung by a robot. Her heart is clearly not into this anymore. I understand that she has a contract with her record label and that she's under conservatorship, but her people need to let her be free and happy. Smooth Criminal 2
This is so true. Remember 2007? I used to be obsessed with finding the latest videos, usually from HollywoodTV on Youtube... Even though most days she was off the rails, she was present and doing what she wanted to do, she could interact with photographers and people with her... Now she's gone so far into sedation she's dead behind the eyes. It's heartbreaking to watch old interviews when she was so full of life, only to have ones now where she's so forced and uncomfortable that it makes me feel uncomfortable watching. This is her last record for RCA, and her Vegas deal ends her promotional obligations. I hope for her sake she's allowed just try and live with her new man and kids in some sort of a semi-normal/private life. I think it was after the VMA 2007 performance that she really lost her confidence and went down! There was such a huge deal about how she did horrible on stage, the media viciously attacked her and I think that after that Britney just lost her self-esteem and can't perform that well. DanceInTheFlames 154
Critical reviews have never meant anything. They review the albums that best stick with the trends. Right now it's hot to be an indie or alternative artist, so those tend to be the critically acclaimed albums. If you make a pop or dance album, you'll get a bad review by default. Disregard 50
Metacritic is absolutely irrelevant. Those who celebrate the positive average of score from 9 different critics are just as pathetic as those who bemoan the negative average score from 9 different critics. It's all relative. Chuckles 2,549
Work Bitch is such a good song but from what I'm hearing Britney Jean is not really good, will listen to it upon release! :)
Disregard 50
I detect a HUGE lie. tbh Show me the time when Britney was important to anything but the sales of tabloid magazines. I'm not talking about awards from MTV, but actual recognition that she changed the landscape of real music, not TRL pop artists without sustainable careers. She was never considered a real musician, just the supreme example of success without purpose.
THC 0
I love how you guys act like she's done when her 7th album sold more with no promo than Gaga's 3d in its first week.
THC 0
I like that distance. One of the most interesting aspects of Britney Spears is that she comes off as a machine. And that fascinates me. She claims the album to be personal, but there will always be this wall between her and the world. And that wall will forever keep me intrigued. I would die to learn the inner workings of Britney Spears' mind, the human behind the oh-so-artificial pop star. Britney Jean, instead of shedding that wall, only reinforces it. And, for me, that's great. I don't want to lose my fascination with Britney. If she bared all, I would have nothing to learn about her, nothing to speculate. It'd be a borefest. And as for Britney herself, I still think she's a fantastic pop star. She looked so beautiful and fierce in the WB video. Proved to me why she's still so amazing. As for there being no ''passion'' on Britney Jean, I don't really see what people are rambling on about. Britney has been a product since the beginning of her career. Especially in her peak years, the years that everyone claims to remember so fondly. So I honestly don't see why that would be an issue now. This this this. There will always be this mystery about Britney and what she really thinks, and that's what fascinates people about her.
HausOfMiklaus 1,803
It still has a much higher rating than ARTPOP on Metacritic That tells you all you need to know about critical reviews. :omfgaga:

Do you realize you're on a Gaga forum? As if Gaga makes high art or something, lol.

As if Gaga makes high art or something, lol. I don't really think it's about being "high art" but rather having something to say. People like Madonna, Janet Jackson, and occasionally Gaga have managed to mix commercial pop with having a viewpoint, and they had their hands fully involved in crafting those things. Britney never did that.
