I will always have the good memories of Britney's early music before there was a Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry there was MISS BRITNEY SPEARS.

Oops I did it again, toxic, slave 4 you ...Me Baby One More TIme **** on discographies. those 4 songs slay,

and then even some of her album tracks are good. Heaven on Earth off of Blackout is great.

I think it's sad how our fanbases have to fight, but yeah I wish the best of luck to britney for her new era Britney Jean. I don't think she's over, but I don't think she's happening either. She's kind of just there in the public's mind. it's like we've gotten so used to her, she's just apart of the psyche of the general public. and those exhale people can drag me all they want, i'm not scared of them

My opinion is that taking a vegas residency over touring is all about the money, and she has no regards for her fans. That being said she obviously has no interest in being a star, she just wants to put things out and wait for the checks to roll in.

I think Britney's been "over" for a long time, unfortunately. She lost something when she had her breakdown, something in her spirit just disappeared, and she's never recovered it. Her career started on a downward slope since that point...

Britney's such a sweet girl, though. I really want her to be happy, and I just think performing isn't making her happy anymore. It really shows.

I just wish she'd kicked the bucket during her breakdown, that way we'd all think of her as the ultimate blonde bombshell who met a tragically beautiful and symbolic end (a la Marilyn) rather than the fat soccer mom vegetable she is now

omg so mean! :smh:

The thing that gets to me the most is that Britney had so much potential. In my honest to god opinion, she could've been bigger than Madonna. She came to premise in the peak of album sales, and in a time where media and social networks were evolving at an exponential rate. If she had only used all of this to her advantage, rather than let her own fame take advantage of her, I believe she could've been the incarnation of pop music up until today. Now she sits there like a former skeleton of herself. And it hurts, it really hurts, that she was nothing but a victim. But over? No. Her name on its own will stand the test of time.

Well TTWE was britney's biggest hit in years so I wouldn't say that. I think she's lost a lot of her intrest in promoting and such, and really why should she? She's made her mark and honestly releases music for the fans and just wants to perform and be with her kids. She doesn't want a level of fame like she did 10 years ago. In short, I don't think she's over, but it will never be like it was.

My opinion exactly.

I don't think Britney will ever be over tbh. No matter how long she is gone, she will always have the loyal part of fan base waiting. The GP may still be convinced she's "crazy" but at least when she releases something she's still talked about, good or bad. Britney will always be a part of pop music culture, and because of that she will never be "over".

Yes. She's still an icon and a legend and she'll never be forgotten, but her career's on its last legs now. When it's over, she'll still be remembered, but I don't think she'll end on a high. Her lead single failed to go top 10 in the US, which is shocking because America always had her back. Interestingly, she didn't achieve her second US #1 until a decade after her first, but when she got that second number one with Womanizer, she seemed to be on a roll, with 3 and Hold It Against Me following. She even helped S&M get to #1 after she was featured on a remix. But after the Femme Fatale era and her break, it seemed like the American public just moved on and radio stopped supporting her. When Scream & Shout was big all over the world, America was one of the few countries where it didn't go to #1 even though Britney would have been the driving force behind that song going to #1 a few years back. Her lead single failing to reach top 10, her first to do this since her third album, is a really bad sign. You could say it's because Britney's been around for 15 years now, so her singles won't have the success they once did, but Madonna's been around for 30 years and Give Me All Your Luvin' managed to scrape top 10 in the US, so it's no excuse. I do think her age has something to do with it, though as she'll be 32 next month. Once you hit 30, it's a dangerous time for female pop stars and few can be successful past that age. I think Kylie and Madonna are the only ones to have survived that time. It's like the world thinks you're too old to be s-xual anymore and if you're married and/or have kids, the consensus tends to be that you shouldn't have to make certain music or flaunt yourself anymore. Britney had kids very young and she was always criticised for not taking time out from her career to look after them. Some people also think it's very sad how someone of her age is still making music like she's a teenager. Britney's music isn't maturing and her age, it should. That's the key to surviving in the business when you're a popstar. If you haven't shown the world something deeper by the time you're 30, you likely won't last.

I think Britney having a residency show and saying she wants to take a haitus after this suggests that she knows it's over too. It's been over in her mind for a long time and it's clear she wants to quit but her label won't let her. They'll keep wheeling her out if they feel there's any chance of her being successful. But I think it's just ruining her legacy. I don't want her last few albums to be the generic, soulless stuff she's been making lately nor do I want her last years of fame get floppier and floppier. She needs to take her recent chart performance as the hint that she needs to do a massive greatest hits farewell tour and go out swinging. Not depressing residency shows that can't even sell and a non existant album campaign.

Couldn't agree with you more. MTE.

She could've have easily surpassed Madonna in all honesty.
