her new sound is going to be much more mature and fresh for her, then DWUW is exactly the kind of sound I was hoping for and also hoped something like this is going to be the first single...

It's probably a lot fresher to European ears. You have no idea how freaking overdone that R&B sound was 5-10-15 years ago in America. We weren't allowed to hear anything electronic or dance on the radio much until 2008.

Great!

Here they have done BTW, Bad Romance and Poker Face

It seems like they do an older song each time when it should be newer. :flop:

Once it tops the HOT 100 chart, I believe others would likely follow due to the bandwagon effect. It's quite rare for a HOT 100 chart-topping song to not hit the top elsewhere, or at least a handful of major music markets. The most recent example I've in mind which suffered this rare situation was back in early 2011, Wiz Khalifa's Black and Yellow.

It's completely possible, Taylor Swift has been very local till WANGBT (showing multiple examples, not all reached #1 but a #2 peak is still high)

Gaga isn't local, DWUW was already top 10 in England, France and Ireland.

I can imagine it having a good enough peak in many markets but I still dunno if it would actually sell well in the long run globally. The UK for example where I am from. No Katy fan I know likes this song at all and it doesn't sound like something that would be a hit here. If it wasn't Katy it would have no chance, maybe with a good peak in the US and an interesting video it could do ok here but I am really not sure.

It's not gonna go anywhere in japan ofc just like DWUW and I dunno about other markets but Uncle was local and that seems more globally friendly than this.

We are talking about Dark Horse. DWUW is already a global hit only a minor one so far but no gaga ain't local.

I'm talking about Dark Horse and how it could be a local hit. But knowing European radio, no :messga:
