Deacon 5
And you think Shakira is above being generic w/ how desperate she is for a hit? She hasn't had a top ten since 06 for Christ's sake, the sis WANTS that hit. Plus, she obviously got Rihanna on board cuz she knew it was the only way she'd get airplay. Agreed. I remember when Shakira wanted to take a risk with Oral Fixation 2 by changing her style, and when "Don't Bother" failed in the US, she quickly returned back to the Colombian belly-dancing goddess with "Hips Don't Lie" and reissued the album after one single. Then she had that last minute collaboration with Lil Wayne added to the She Wolf album.

But seriously Telephone and BTW are some of the most global songs this decade ... along with Call me Maybe, LTWYL, STIUTK, Rolling in the Deep .. Luc 4,775
I mean Rihanna is the definition of global itself , even What Now did decently in Europe Don't do Born This Way like that Gaga is way more global than Rihanna. Rihanna is really small in East-Asia, and you need to be huge in East-Asia to beat Gaga in globalness and I believe Gaga's bigger than Rih in Latin America? :o

Glory 2,255
Shakira and Rihanna collab is the most global thing ever happened in this world since Micheal Jackson When I think that it could have been Gaga ... Luc 4,775
Rihanna is bigger in Europe and USA so I don't get your point Europe+USA >> Japan+Brazil Indeed, you don't get it. Being global isn't about selling much, but it's about how big you are everywhere around the world. If you're basically a non-factor in East-Asia, you can't actually be considered global. Stromae's album is selling better and has sold better than Gaga's. Does that make him global? No.
