Bt1 5,213
That's what I WAS SAYING, don't have to skip SNL but just the performance of DWUW I'd trade for the Video Of course you never know what will work but a Video is more important than a performance. Another question is that a performance may make a song huge and the same goes for video, but apart from that a video is just more Important. This. Its not always the same recipe for succes. Look at Katy with DH. DWUW had similar support from radio, but it didnt manage to go top 10. Radio is important. Video is important. Promotion is important. Timing is everything. GagaSlayedYou 2
I think Gaga really has possibilities. 1. Gaga is attending to Carole King's celebration, two nights before the awards show. 2. Carole King is performing at Grammy's (She is the MusiCares Person of 2014), along with many artists, but the only one we know is Sara Barailles. Is Gaga performing twice? A performance with Carole, and a performance of her own material?

Whispering 18,865
Videos have their role in the big game. Why this is so hard to admit for you? I would say that a video is more important than radio support. Of course, it must be a good video first. It isn't and I agree with you, they have a role- just not (usually) to the extent that you are saying they have. Like performances, there can be special cases that happen rarely. One video, for a second single no less, definitely shouldn't be "traded" for a PRIME promo opportunity like hosting AND being the musical guest on SNL at the beginning of your album era. Any music executive or PR person would tell you that! A single video will hardly ever do what long term radio support can do. The RARE exceptions being something like Gangam Style. Only in the case of these types of once or twice in a year anomalies do you see videos being more important than radio play. A "good video" is never going to equal good radio play. It may work that way in your country (IDK?), but it doesn't work that way here.
