Valextra 58 Posted January 14, 2014 Share Posted January 14, 2014 At this point I have to say that with DWUW she has lost only time and sells... 3 months for nothing, now as I said weeks ago also the ALBUM sales will be a lot low because she hasn't a hit to promote it.. However, to be fair, I believe they've tried everything, well almost everything, to make DWUW a hit which we've all hoped for - from the 3 televised performances all the way to the 2 remixes. It just happened all of those weren't enough. And unfortunately, it seems nothing would be enough to make this song a bigger hit than Applause, chart-wise. Yes, it's true, infact I was sure that the performance at 'The Voice' especially with the duet with Christina would have pushed the song into the top10, same thing for the official remix.. They made mistakes for the timetables.. Because I still think that it could be a hit, but now too much time it's passed, for example in Italy it peaked at the radio at the end of November but without a video and out of the top20 on iTunes, after 2 weeks they stopped to play it (not at all, but from 1 position on airplay from the most important radio it failed at the 11-12, now it's 21). Also because, videos are the most important things when we talk about Gaga, because for a singer like Adele the video it's not important (see Skyfall), but for Gaga It's a lot. I know most don't agree but I think it depends what the video is like. If the video is something epic, which I'm not sure how they would go about with DWUW since it doesn't seem like the type of song that would have an epic video, but I think that It could help the song a lot. Here in my country most don't even know that DWUW is the next single. The video is kind of proof of it being the next single and drives sales imo ... And my guess is that this is the case for a lot of countries. A lot of my friends watch music channels instead of listening to radio and that's where most of them receive knowledge of a song first. Then there are videos that can MAKE a song a smash, but these are 2 different things. A video can't break a song unless It's something really, really bad.. But that's just my opinion. Believe me, it's not an opinion but a matter of fact, the video is very important, especially for artists like Gaga. For example see the Britney's career in the last years, she have hits only promoting a song with the music video, forget the last era, but see also the big success of 'Scream and Shout', it has only the music video...
