This is what aggravates me, though. I'm not necessarily targeting this at you, but there's a double standard going on in this thread. People said NOTHING about Gaga bringing JFK into Government Hooker (both the song and the performance at the BTWB). There was absolutely no controversy at all. Now it's the 50th anniversary, suddenly it's disrespectful and offensive.

 

Obviously Gaga is doing this performance to stir up controversy, but that doesn't hide the fact that there is a double standard in this thread (and in the world) that shows people only get offended when it suits them.

 

Government Hooker was subtle and not being performed at a big award show with s-xual imagery. This goes a lot further than GH.

Government Hooker was anything BUT subtle. Just because she was dressed as an alien doesn't hide the fact she was bending over a presidential desk singing "put your hands on my, John F Kennedy."

That was in front of die hard fans that get the joke and humor of the song. Now we are talking about all of America watching for the award show and Gaga with a mann(that does not have a good reputation in this department) in a scene of a presidents office the week of the 50th anniversary. How could you even deny that this is worse than GH?

I noted this in a another post but it fit with the GH theme better and it was a passing line in the song. So while I did not like it I overlooked it because it was not calling that much attention to itself. By making a performance of it she is purposefully drawing major attention to the subject.  She is making an even bolder statement to us all since it is right after the anniversary. She must be trying to say something but I just hope it is positive and blatant so that it cannot be seen just for controversy
