I can't speak for other countries. But us Americans need lots and lots and lots of exposure to something before we really start to take notice. Everybody gets so up in arms about what a freak Lady Gaga is and how she's alienated so many people with her bizarre antics, but the truth is... that's just the media. People say BTW and her behavior during that time turned off most of the public. But the bigger harm to her career was her complete absence from the spotlight for such an extended period of time (I'm not blaming her for this necessarily, but it's just the truth). The average American doesn't give 2 ****s about how weird Lady Gaga is if they like the song. Unfortunately, the average American also only discovers music through tons of radio airplay, television, and youtube/vevo. The reason most people aren't buying her album is because they probably haven't heard anything from it aside from Applause. In fact, most people probably have no idea Lady Gaga even just released an album. If she doesn't put herself out there (and I mean, lots), the album, and singles, won't sell. Muppets won't draw many viewers, her last special did good for a special but FOR a special. It wasnt big on selling her work back then so I doubt it will now. Idk. Maybe the video will come out after the AMAs quickly.... Just ... Whatever. And I don't mean that Ellen would've suddenly put this era on track. While I do think DWYW will gain in popularity and prolly have a similar peak like applause I just don't know if that's enough. After 3 medium hit singles I don't know how much longer this era would go. She's kinda in a hard place in her career, she needs to be promoting the crap out of herself but at the same time I think the label/management ( or whoever is left at this point) thinks she should remain relaxed and try to win back the GP without annoying them and being in their face like BTW was. Essence 199 Posted November 22, 2013 Share Posted November 22, 2013 some of you guys... are you guys serious really look i don't wanna be disrespectful but this kind of stuff is insignificant in the scheme of things. like things could be so much worse. we don't need to be actually depressed... i mean people crying over gaga's chart run legitimately worries me. i mean she's still making good music and she's still living life and making that $$$ it's not like she's sick or dying or something.
