Thinking back on it, the Alejandro video was soooo Born This Way. Some serious foreshadowing.

Absolutely!

Actually, the background of this still reminds me of Mother GOAT from the BTWB.

Really, EVERY single one of her eras has been like this: the last video seriously foreshadows her future direction. It's really kind of interesting.

Paparazzi was the last TF single, and its video definitely was when Gaga came into her own, artistically. Her first mini-movie music video, super over the top and conceptual, it definitely foreshadowed what TFM era would feel like (also, thematically its one of the darker tunes on TF, which leads right into TFM).

Alejandro was TOTALLY BTW in spirit, theme, and aesthetic. Its Gaga at her most indulgent and, quite frankly, queerest, and it makes perfect since as a lead in to what BTW would be.

Marry The Night, while VERY indulgent in length, actually represents the sort of stripping down we've seen over and over again with ARTPOP--it was our first look "behind the aura" as it was really her first very obviously autobiographical video, and we've seen that openness carry through to ARTPOP, with her taking a lot more time to reflect on the beginning of her career and some of her darker experiences as she was getting started.

Well if you think about how soon Gaga gets to work on the next album after the current one's out, by the last single say 7,8,9 months down the line, she's pretty much entirely worked out the artistic concepts and therefore they influence her current work.
