MelbHawker 6,583
Pop music sales are ALL down. So technically, if you think about it... Katy SMASHED with Roar, and came off of an album that was essentially her FM, and still sold under 300K. Miley has two hit singles, and a **** TON of controversy, and still only sold under 300K. Gaga was gone for six months, barely did any promo and sold under 300K. Let that sink in. I'm afraid the Miley/Katy factors are completely irrelevant when it comes to Gaga's sales. They have nothing to do with Gaga's sales being lower.
monstronic 23
Since you posted the same thing as in the other thread, I'll post my same reply: Gaga's sales are not out. The first sales week isn't even over yet. These numbers are just projections we know.
hookerofoz 0
When Katy and Miley open with less than 300k having generic #1 singles: YAS QUEENS SLAY WHAT A LEGENDS When Gaga opens with less than 300k having an edgy Top 5 single: LMFAO FLOPGA HA CAREER IS OVER What kind of hypocrisy? Nagini 3,543
I know! people just need to accept the fact that gaga isn't as big as she was before. sure that's not a great thing but like the PEOPLE AT BILLBOARD SAID, she's coming off an era that turned people off. just relax..the album is bound to go platinum anyways and perhaps even more if singles do well this era. gaga will regain casual fans if singles are successful. she barely did promo but that error cant be undone anyways. 240K isn't great for an artist like lady gaga but people have been overestimating her power, not taking into consideration her slow downfall during the BTW era. Perhaps ARTPOP will help her in the long run........... She won't have an album on the same scale of BTW to live up to. Probably on Grindr
No Lies 0
It's true. Billboard Magazine reported in fact she was only selling an average of 9000 tickets for the remaining 22 US shows with each venue having a seat capacity of roughly 20000 people. So the shows were far from sold out. She didn't even manage to sell 50% of the tickets available. People already lost interested in her then. http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/1539268/lady-gaga-tour-cancellation-a-look-at-the-damage Billboard reported no such thing. Here's an actual quote from that Billboard article - "The North American leg, which was to wrap the tour and was almost completely sold out, would have likely put the tour at more than $200 million gross, easily in the top 20 tours of all time and probably in the top 15. As it stands, Gaga finished sixth among all touring artists in 2012, with a gross of $125 million and attendance of more than 1.1 million, according to Boxscore. You decided to ignore that actual quote completely and instead decided to use the following quote to come up with false info and try and claim Billboard said it - "In total, 22 shows were cancelled, forcing the refund of roughly 200,000 tickets". Yes, 200,000 divided by 22 equals about 9,000. But there is no mention of arena capacity or anything else indicating the shows were not selling. No, Gaga-haters just twisted Billboard's words around to try and make people think they said that. Pathetic. FACT - The Born This Way Ball tour was a tremendous success grossing nearly 200M even with the cancelled shows.
