Liam Germanotta 3
And the excuses begin. Applause is generic. DWYW generic Venus generic se called it the album of the millennium but here you say that knew the album wasn't meant for the general public? You have to pay attention to the charts that's the point of being in a major label. If not she will dropped. AGAIN No shade. Applause isn't generic. "You're gonna hear me roar" vs. "I love for the applause" - a song about empowerment, that is understood in the very first second, against lyrics of which everybody thinks they are selfish and first need an explanation by saying Gaga lives for the applause because then she knows that her fans are happy? DWUW may sound generic, but here again, we have the thing with the lyrics. But in this case, it doesn't really matter, because "Do what u want with my body" may simply sound cool and s-xy to people. But it's so different to Applause and come on, you don't buy an album because of one song. The GP was disappointed by the style of BTW so they don't risk to buy a whole album in the beginning now. If they like Applause, they buy it. If they like DWUW, they buy it. If there are more singles now, they maybe consider buying the album at a later point. Venus is N O T generic! (Uranus, don't you know my ass is famous? In which universe would Katy or Britney sing those lyrics?) And by saying "album of the millennium" she made a joke of herself because of what she said about BTW! Why should she be dropped by Interscope? You don't wanna tell me the project "Lady Gaga" is turning into red numbers only because her first week sales are at 250k? AmericanxDream 2,049
This is unfortunate, but some people need to chill. Life isn't all about album sales. Edited November 14, 2013 by Oshawott
ghs 3,343
Well Justin Timberlake first predictions were 500K and he end it up selling 968k so i guess if Gaga try and do some promo for the album it can reach 300K (i don't think it will go beyond that to be honest) Edited November 14, 2013 by ghs
monstereo 1,232
The promo for this album cannot be compared to Born This Way's promo BTW probably had 3x the promo of AP BTW's only promo was the Album Title announcement at the VMAS and a Grammy performance. (before the album was released)

Sabertooth 2
we're ****ing flopping. i waited 2 years for this bull****. TBH who cares? How does "flopping" change the music? It doesn't. I think it may be good for some of you to experience a "flop" I see the way some of you act Edited November 14, 2013 by xxxz
halloffame1203 0
I'm okay with this, but I believe ARTPOP will have longevity since DWYW is about to smash so hard in the US.

AquaFire Witch 160
If GAGA says F**K sales and charts then we should too. Her aura is shining bright right now and we're all sitting in the dark!I am going to try and be optimistic and trust that she knows what she is doing as an artist. She's not been in the business long but she's been in it long enough now.And if she is genuinely unhappy with the way things go with ARTPOP then she'll come back harder next time. If she is happy with what she got then we know that it's just simply the way she wants it.

One Five Ten 70
Y'all are forgetting about SNL promo next week. I won't be surprised if we see a similar second-week sales. Gaga's manager did say they were aiming for the album to be more of a long-standing album with legs this time rather than the "blockbuster event" approach per Born This Way. Anyway, I'm sick of all these meltdowns. Do you really think anyone BUT die hard fans look at 275k opening week album sales and think of Gaga as a flop? No. All they think of is that she has a new album out and whether or not they'll buy it.......and the world keeps spinning. :turkga:
