Viper 0
1) Thats not what he actually meant. As one could clearly tell from his post he a. Thought I was being serious instead of facetious b. Thought Fashion and J&D were being ridiculed because of their genre and not their quality 2) Vandalism is definitely art. Ever hear of Banksy? In fact, according to Gaga, vandalism is ARTPOP, placing new meaning onto that which already exists. I'm not defending this girl at all, but it's incorrect and, in this case, hypocritical to say that vandalism can't be art. 1. That is what I actually meant but thanks for trying to be a mind reader hun. ^_^ 2. Banksy's vandalism and a couple of letters etched with a key are two entirely different worlds. The fact you are defending a person that key'd one of Koons' sculptures is frightening.
yourfaves 317
Yes, what she did could be considered art. But art is not outside the realm of consequence.

High 0
She posted this on twitter: "A small, but powerful and subversive act of artistic defiance - in the face of the increasingly homogenized, corporatized circle jerk which is the contemporary art industry." I can't even... this girl thinks she is on some next level ****. Wake up hun Yes, what she did could be considered art. But art is not outside the realm of consequence. I can't even... this girl thinks she is on some next level ****. Wake up hun i agree. as if what this girl is doing, isn't considered contemporary? Dressing "indie" and "unique", looking at her other photos of course, and vandalizing art, with clearly no true intention, but more so a psuedo-intellectual one, is probably as contemporary as you can get these days. And I hate people who talk in such verbose ways, which only make them sound pretentious. I get what she is saying, but c'mon girl, we all know what you said could probably have been stated more clearly, concisely, and more powerfully with a lower level vocab. Not hating on people with extensive vocab, but judging by the way she talks, I can only imagine her college essays being nothing but meaningless word. It's like what she does is like hipster art, ugh. And by hipster art, I mean art where the person consciously tries to be unique, intellectual, and artistic seeming, but fails in doing so by trying so hard. SpadesToStart 3,460
Wow which statues? The Gaga one? No, the ones in the middle of the dance floor. I think there was someone literally watching the Gaga statue all night.

I know you said it was a joke, but then the way you explained it made it seem like that really was what you thought of the songs. That's why we're still talking about it! As for vandalism being art or not, I've already replied to another post about that.
Joey1 0
Question: Do you people even know if those ARE REAL moons sculptures? I HIGHLY DOUBT there's be million dollar sculptures and no security. Are those pieces previous works of his or did he just make them for the artRave? EDIT: THIS FOOL IS SAYING THAT HIS CARVING OF INITIALS WAS ART LMAO.
alposnacks 1
Well, how could we know you weren't being serious? I know you said it was a joke, but then the way you explained it made it seem like that really was what you thought of the songs. That's why we're still talking about it! I just think that art is too broad to be having intense arguments about what constitutes art or not. Some songs on ARTPOP are not to my liking, but Gaga considers them an entirely new genre of art, or at least old genres re-appropriated. I just think it's a funny and interesting parallel to how vandalism is seen is both as an innovative and postmodern form of art and also as trash at the same time. I'm not trying to be disparaging toward ARTPOP and encouraging toward this girl's vandalism, but the reason she can make the excuses she does is because in a different context what she did really could have been art. What others see as a great accomplishment and triumph, she may see as disposable and contrived. Imagine if, instead of ruining this sculpture, she had instead digitally vandalized it. Would you see it more as art then? I think people would. I'm not defending her actions because I think she just wanted attention and the deeper meaning came later as an excuse and not an intent, but in a different light and a different situation, this vandalism really could have been an interesting statement. Yeah I sort of agree with you. Let's just say it's wrong then, instead of art or vandalism. I think we all agree it's wrong, so. :)

ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
I just think it's damn disrespectful, and quite frankly, conceited, to inscribe your name on a Jeff Koons work without his permission. If you knew anything about how Gaga felt about Koons, and cared about her feelings - and surely if you were at artRave, you cared about Gaga - you would know how much this would upset her. I'm sure, however, this can be fixed. It's not the point, but it's not the end of the world either. They are beautiful sculpture I must add, and the artRave would not have been the same without them.
