US Charts Discussion - 'ARTPOP' debuts at #1

The difference is that applause had a radio deal and was a lead single, and judging how it did in huge markets like the UK, it wouldn't have been a bad idea.

I don't think I've made any comment like that for DWUW.

Yeah I didn't mean to pick on you, just remind everyone that even big singles like Applause and TEOG have had their slow radio add days and streaks. Interscope knew they had a secret weapon - the KIA Hamster commercial.

Not at all - with all the promo lined up for her. But would it have a fair shot at #1? I doubt it. For now, I'd reserve that chart chase next year at the GRAMMYs. The #1 position for the rest of 2013 is almost guaranteed for The Monster ..

Agreed, and I've written off any #1s from ARTPOP and I'm unbothered.

I'm rooting for 4, or at least 3, Applause size hits. (Top 10 with 2 million sales). Plus some album slayage.

Katy's already falling in airplay in Australia and has no songs in the top 10 in UK but her fans are calm. We should be more like them lol

DWUW is as expected 58 on Hot 100. Work b---h is 59.

On Radio songs, Applause is still no 7. It seems that on Nielsen numbers, Holy Grail is still at 6.

Well that's because they don't follow her because of her talent or artistic work. So, if the public doesn't jump on a song, they tell themselves maybe it's not that great. With Gaga, we refuse to accept that her work isn't amazing. Lol
