It seems to me that the problem is not about HER (there is actually no real problem, but... the situation) but is about the music industry changing fast, concerning streaming a piracy etc. Yeah earlier this year I read an article on a tech site about how digital sales reached a new low or something. I mean first the physical sales went to the dogs and now it's the digital versions as well? The music industry needs to fully embrace streaming even more than it does now! She is releasing the video now before even more radio builds up. She went into her Prism debut week with a #1 single that had already sold 2x more than Applause has now and with 10 #1 BB top singles. Her last album ended up selling 10x what it started out with on it's debut week, which says she had momentum coming into this era. Katy didn't "disappear" between eras. She was everywhere doing promo and her team made sure that her single and her songs took over radio. ^^^ALL THIS and all she could come up with was 10-30K more than Gaga is predicted to sell. (at this point) When Gaga was in this same situation back in 2011, she and her team came up with a million debut week. Other than massive payola for radio play, Katy's team and label isn't looking any smarter than Gaga's at this time, as far as debut weeks go. I think that speaks more about Gaga and Katy's star power and not Katy's promo. Katy's first week sales were 50% better than Teenage Dream's which shows that the campaign was very effective. If ARTPOP had the same kind of promo that Prism did then it could be doing 400k easily. Katy had a ton of high profile appearances during her release week while Gaga hasn't done anything major besides SNL and the artRAVE. Prism's promo campaign was about as perfect as it gets. That's why I wish Gaga had a team like Katy's. They know how to pick the best release dates and promo appearances. Gaga's team should be taking notes from Katy's. Couldn't that give her a bump above others who don't have new video releases and make it easier to get higher on the Hot 100?
