US Charts Discussion - 'ARTPOP' debuts at #1

Billboard has reported inaccurate numbers before.

for 120M of singles, ,means that she sold at least 10M-8M with every single she released and we know that is not true.

I think the statistics of any artist are reported from the label to BB. They always like add some numbers to their records sold.

Like Teenage Dream getting a place that certifies 11M sold WW  :hehe:

Yeah. Same here. I honestly doubt what they're giving are the actual and wholly accurate statistics. Labels (and media alike) love to exaggerate. Whichever info makes their artist / client look good on paper, that's the one they'd most likely use for promotional purposes. It's not something unusual. I doubt the Beatles sold 1 billion records worldwide, but that's the statistics being spread in the media, hence the public takes it. Same goes with all the pop stars before Gaga. Like I've said, I'd still take it. It's part of their brand imaging, more than their actual achievements.

onerepublic is not gaga

major pop girls' singles usually peak within 2-3 months - rihanna, gaga and katy. Even britney during FF

Yeah Applause aint going number 1 lol.

But I still think that it's one of Gaga's best singles to date. I mean, three months later, all the times I've heard it on the radio, I still love it just as much as I did the first day. It's a ****ing catchy song. I wonder if the GP feels the same way as me lol

Oh Lawd if Prism gets a higher metacritic score then Gaga.

On the bright side, we're higher than Avril! (for now...)

Ugh Applause is so close to 100M on YT

It was certified last week. The YT link is just not updating, but on the VEVO site it's been 100+ for about a week.

I think it can continue to get 50-60k a week for the remainder of the year tbh. It's one of those singles. It'll probably end up between 2.5 and 3 million.

I know, but I wanna see 100M on YT lol

kworb just updated their sales projections for this week. These are just estimations, but they are usually in the ballpark (especially as it gets closer to the end of the week). The highlights:

-Applause is projected to sell 68,000 copies this week. A pretty solid number for week 13.

-Do What U Want is projected to sell 46,000 copies this week, that's up 4% over last week, which likely represents its growing radio play. Interestingly Katy Perry's Unconditionally is set to sell just 2000 more copies, or 48,000. That's down a full 10% from last week's numbers, despite big gains in its radio airplay in the past week. The song sits at #17 in overall radio with 65M AI. To put it into perspective, DWUW is in the 80s on that chart with around 20M AI.

-Say Something is currently projected to sell 149,000 copies this week. That's down from over 200k projected a few days ago, so this number might change.

-Bieber's fanbase is showing signs of fatigue over his Music Monday campaign. While most of his previous weeks have been able to score 100k+ debuts, Bad Day is projected to sell just 74,000 copies.

-Britney Spears' Perfume is projected to debut with just 44,000 copies.
