If I remember correctly, BTW had at least 3 within the top 20 at this time. Oh well, how times have changed. Thankfully, Applause is getting the love that it deserves from radio. Mess Must be nice to be in the UK Unconditionally is about to get knocked out of the Top 40 too on iTunes, it's not only Gaga being killed by the raft of new songs. One the other hand, this time she has far more spins and AI on US radio. And there wasn't competition from Emimem, The Voice, and Country Music awards in May 2011. A sales hit like that with warm radio embrace would need at least more than a month atop the charts. With that said, I'd say we can see the rise of the phoenix in early 2014 - right in time for the GRAMMYs, which is a fresh start for everyone I guess. The difference is that applause had a radio deal and was a lead single, and judging how it did in huge markets like the UK, it wouldn't have been a bad idea. I doubt it. For now, I'd reserve that chart chase next year at the GRAMMYs. The #1 position for the rest of 2013 is almost guaranteed for The Monster, well that's what I see at least. If there'd be a last minute stunner, then that'd be anyone else getting that spot, including KP.
