But I don't think she realized the implications of working with someone like R. Kelly, who has a past which is not so praise-worthy. And now, they, Gaga and her label saw that things weren't gonna turn out well if they went ahead with the video, thus the Xtina collab and the video delay.

Don't really buy it, I think she knew the implications and partly chose him because of those reasons, but no one could have really foreseen the allegations coming back to light and that is the reason why, if indeed they are, backing down or trying to distance themselves from him or just the controversy in general. Maybe it's not even in her hands.

To the OP, I think the author brings up an interesting point about the whole self-fulfilling prophecy when it comes to Gaga's calling out of the media. Though I don't totally agree, it does almost seem as if, regardless of all the stuff that was brought up prior to DWUW, she was kind of asking for more scrutiny by choosing such a controversial counterpart. I suppose they may be backing down now, but the choice was made and that's it. They should stick to their guns imo. Maybe they're just waiting for some of the controversy to die down, or it has nothing to do with him at all.

Thank you for your insight, Like every issue, members are divided. For Gaga's sake, I hope very much that those on your side of the issue are correct here.

Sure members are divided. But looks like the main evidence that other side has just comes from rumors and gossip repeated over and over until they seem true or plausible.

R. Kelly hasn't been a mainstream fixture for some time now. I think it's naive to assume, especially in this fanbase, that listeners possessed an informed opinion on R.Kelly when they decided to support the song.

I'm 16 and I knew. And shouldn't it occur to people to at least Google/Wiki the people who work with the artists they stan for? Maybe I'm expecting too much.

She shouldn't have worked with him in the first place  :manicure: As an artist he's overrated and as a person he's sleazy. I strongly believe she's trying to distance herself from that walking talking mess...

If the DWUW video comes out with Xtina in it we'll know for sure. If the video never comes out, then I guess we'll know for sure then, too  :troll:

They released the remix that included Kelly, even with new lines, AFTER the rumors about Gaga/Interscope distancing themselves began.

Probably! But why would she sing with R.Kelly in the first place

Oh God, this so much.....

I feel like she's sometimes too naive about her collaborators (this also goes to Terry Richardson). Gaga is so used to being harrassed by the media and their lies that she automatically thinks every celebrity has the exact same kind of relationship with the media, and that every bull**** the media say about anyone is necessarily a lie. 'cause that's what they do with her. Only problem is: it seems like everything wasn't a lie when it came to R. Kelly, and she's probably painfully realizing it today.

Why would she believe what people say about him when she knows first-hand how gossip and rumours accrue around celebrities?

I was talking about fans, not Gaga herself.

'Cause she's a grown woman :whitney:

I think all the correct reasons were mentioned already. Just saying, we shouldn't underestimate her knowledge and assume she's naïve just so we feel better..... we don't even know where she stands on the whole issue of his past and the allegations, etc.

It can't be more inappropriate than most of today's music videos.

Gagz can always find a way  ;)

Probably on Grindr

Guys R. Kelly helped get her song to a Rhythmic audience. I believe that Gagz should have released the R. Kelly version to Rhythmic stations and the Xtina version to Pop and AC radio.

Probably on Grindr

She should. He's like a glorified Pit Pull that mistakes girls for urinals.

He pretty much ruined the song for me tbh :ohwell:

I interpret R Kelly being there in 2 ways.

1. Gaga is saying she gets pissed on by critics and bloggers in a way that's just as degrading as what he did to those girls.

2. It's another case of her sympathy with bad boys (see Judas and Bad romance).

1. Made me laugh so much i had tears - I completely agree with you, I had never thought of this.

I think after this album Gaga should just ditch Interscope cuz they are just drags...

They're not properly supporting Gaga and are just making a mess of this era and this ****ing DWUW video...If only Gaga had enough money to pull a Jay Z and make her own record label...

**** YOU INTERSCOPE

I DONT LIKE YOU

i hope Lana ditches you too...
