I want Gaga to evolve and grow as an artist and individual, but I gotta say, I do miss that Gaga. MonsterBallGa was everything

Same. I would never ask her to go back to TFM era or do the Monster Ball again, but I will always stan for the looks, performances, and music. If I could freeze Gaga in time (which I would never do because that'd be cruel if she could never evolve), late 2009-2010 would be the ultimate time period.  :legend:

Mister G

She has already explained why she wanted to work with him.

But I don't think she realized the implications of working with someone like R. Kelly, who has a past which is not so praise-worthy. And now, they, Gaga and her label saw that things weren't gonna turn out well if they went ahead with the video, thus the Xtina collab and the video delay.

Why do I feel like history is repeating itself again? Judas released as the second single and within weeks of its release The Edge of Glory was rush-released as the 3rd single to make up for the madness surrounding Judas. Only this time everything surrounding DWUW is left in the dark with very little to no detail. I feel like the same thing is somewhat happening with Do What U Want--and you're right about collaborating with someone with a very not-so-praise-worthy past having a big impact on her. The article brought up some good points though.

Probably! But why would she sing with R.Kelly in the first place

I still believe that DWUW is about rape. Like, Gaga sings about letting someone do what they want with her body, but not her mind. Then later R. Kelly becomes the one doing what he wants with her body.

Dunno, not sure. I really hope Gaga realized that she shouldn't have worked with him, no matter how good his part is.

Not to be a rockist, but it’s difficult for me to find poignancy in a song written by a team of five to six songwriters, even when  as in the case of Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Wantâ€â€†the themes are blunt and heavy-handed.

Gaga wrote it herself smh

Maybe she is, which is why she sang with Christina.  To their delight and everyone else's , it turned out to be a much better song that way.  I say go the distance Gaga!

I can't disclose any behind-the-scenes stuff.  I signed an NDA (not disclosure form).

I hope she is trying to distance herself from R.Kelly, and any other sleazeball she works with.

This collaboration happened all because of DJ White Shadow, but Gaga is equally culpable in co-signing on that idea.

I don't exactly know how to describe a small piece of this fan base. Do they have ANY original thoughts? It's like all they read is "Gaga...Featuring R. Kelly" and all of the sudden they're all "OMG I love R. Kelly!" and then all they read from here is "R. Kelly...rape" and it's all "OMG what a pig". Like... Seriously? You didn't know? These allegations are old. You must've known. Google?

A bit more on topic: Gaga can do whatever she wants. If she is distancing herself, then great. R. Kelly's never exactly been a wholesome character.

Call me crazy, but I bet the delay on the video is probably due to a re-shoot. Maybe the video we will get will have x-tina in it instead? just some food for thought

R. Kelly hasn't been a mainstream fixture for some time now. I think it's naive to assume, especially in this fanbase, that listeners possessed an informed opinion on R.Kelly when they decided to support the song.

No it was not meant to be about rape.
