I agree! The album is such a killer dance album with amazing themes and from start to beginning, it is such a journey. I love every single song (although some do have less replay value)

I do like the song, but it's a total hot mess. People bring up Poker Face and Paparazzi and Bad Romance having strange lyrics, but forget that they also had top-notch, solid, seamless productions behind them. Venus is Gaga rambling on about garden panties, oysters, and the planets over a song that sounds like several vintage snippets pasted together. And I feel like we've been in the Venus era since August with the imagery, performances, and her usage of it in interviews and online chatter. It feels like it has already been a single, which is why I'm Venus-ed out by this point.

Venus could be something and I'm all for Gaga taking a risk, but I would just rather put a different song in the spotlight.

All my friends love Venus and they're non gaga fans. Everyone waits for the 'don't you know my ass is famous' line haha <3

I've seen loads of GP react to ARTPOP

these stood out the most: MANiCURE and GYPSY

these were the I love it so much or I hate it so much songs: Aura and Venus

and Sadly I cant seem to get the reactions we got out of G.U.Y from the GP

and SexxxDreams was too confusing to some.

so why take risks when Top 10 hits are waiting to smash aka MANiCURE and GYPSY

Scheiße could've been a good single, and would've taken off really well on the radio during the Born This Way period. Alejandro was the better choice over DITD in my opinion (as someone stated: fan favorites aren't necessarily good for radio). Starstruck would've been well during The Fame cycle, and I believe Monster could have been good too. Back then, Gaga was much more relevant because her career was new, and the public was interested in every move she made. Now, sadly, and I mean without offense, the public is divided into not caring and people that love her; there is little to no middle ground. She has to make safe single choices to remain relevant to win back some of the lost group. Despite all the chatters about not caring about charts, it does matter to some degree in her business; she has to sell to remain a star. Without the public she will become a niche artist--and we don't want that.

As for the Telephone continuation, I thought for a while it could be Aura due to the beginning, but in terms of production and radio-friendliness, I think MANiCURE would do better, even if it's not the best song. Those that are mildly interested in Gaga remember the "To Be Continued..." ending, and upon its release will want to see how the video ends. If the video's story delivers, it needs a strong, radio-friendly song to support it. While MANiCURE isn't a masterpiece, it is still really catchy and fun, and definitely something you'd hear on the radio during the warm weather months, listening too loudly with the windows down. Plus it talks about being a serial killer, and the man being a goner. Plus there's a instrumental breakdown--or dance break down/poison scene ala Telephone video or strobe light scene in Paparazzi. Aura is fun too, but its performance on the radio could be hit or miss, and as much as I love Gaga she can't afford negative press or controversy right now. In my opinion Aura was a decoy, and MANiCURE will become the continuation. Remember, she said the continuation was performed at Swine Fest.

I could be wrong, but it is my opinion on the matter.

I dont see why people say Venus is too weird and isnt GP friendly but then want GUY as a single

GUY is just as weird if not weirder than Venus at points

and Venus is super catchy and has an amazing chorus which is something the GP likes, and GUY has one of the weakest choruses on the album

It's not really hate.

I personally dislike the song, except for a few moments, just because it feels... clumsy, unfinished.

The fact that its a song people either "love or hate" is also a good argument to avoid it as a single.

Kinda like Judas. A hit in Europe, too out there for the US.

I wish they would play it safe, safe being an amazing song like GUY.

BUTTTT. I want to see any video directed by Ruth. Showstudio crew ftw.

All songs from gaga have a "weird" factor. But for a lot of people, including crtitics, a song like GUY feels much more finished and ready to be a potential smash.

Every new album is her best because she's an artist. Right now ARTPOP is her best album and it's also my favorite because it's just so fun and adrenaline full.
