Mills 446
Interscope must have Heard Venus already, so should have been on the page of the original decision and announcement. It almost suggests Gaga chose Venus and this is the mechanism that Interscope have over-ridden her with. Yeah, if we think about it, why would they allot a week for a promo single ahead the planned 2nd single without the intent, or least concern that DWUW might just completely overshadow the one which would have the later release. Not to mention, Venus's release date is in between two promo singles. That alone is strongly intriguing. And after hearing the snippet of Venus, I'd not be surprised if Interscope actually ensured this scenario (the "last-minute" switch) would happen. Stra 6
DWUW will hit #1 on Billboard sometime in November. Quote me chicas. Venus would have/will never have - the success DWUW is capable of because of Radio.
Mast 980
Interesting, but I think they've got a few facts that aren't true! first-she was #1 in 83 countries at one point, not 64 like they said second-it will impact radio sooner that November 4th I think She was never #1 in 83 countries at once. That was in total.
craig 680
Anyway, since Venus has no shot of being a real single because everyone will download it monday, That's the same "everyone" (Gaga fans) that will have bought the album with all possible single choices by 2014. la fama 13
Recording contracts are strong, there is never an easy out until the terms of the contract are complete.I know that, but that's generally more a problem for artists just starting out, but if you have enough money (like Gaga has), you can buy your way out of any contract. You can also just threaten not to renew your contract when it expires, and if they rely on the income you bring to the label, they obviously don't want that happening as well. They may have helped build the "Lady Gaga" name, but you don't buy Gaga's tracks because you like Interscope, you buy them because you like Gaga, and that's that. If a label likes money, they're not going to anger one of the biggest source of their money. They have to meet halfway, or the partnership will never work. No party has complete say, they both have to agree and compromise.

MelbHawker 6,583
I think Venus release won't distract. But, streaming the album and releasing snippets are great ideas. Probably DWUW's video will be released the week after its radio release. I think it will. It's a big song. And people have been waiting for it. They'll jump on it. Can't she still release Venus as an official single later? She could but people would've already bought it.
