What happens when Venus/Dope drop though? They'll shoot straight up to the top of the charts.

I think she should cut promo singles from now on, and just stick to snippets & build hype that way. I don't want anything to distract from DWUW.

Venus is obviously too risky

and you can't market an EDM/Pop album with a ballad produced by Rick Rubin that talks about dope

Hmm.. if I were Gaga I'd cut all promo singles and stick to releasing snippets through social media and streaming the album on iTunes. She's got appearances coming up, interviews, performances.. I'm guessing a video for DWUW will be rush-released. She doesn't need promo singles. She should save Venus for later.

It is interesting that Gaga herself made the decision.

She's just proud that she branched out and had a pure R&B collaboration with R. Kelly :sara:

Love her

Can't believe monsters are still complaining about this choice after finding out that Gaga made the decision. Y'all truly can find anything to complain about, I honestly feel like we don't even deserve new music after seeing how immature you all are acting.

Anyway, since Venus has no shot of being a real single because everyone will download it monday, the third single after DWYW should be released in January and performed at the grammys, from what we've heard right now, I would say either Gypsy or GUY should be released as the third single. Sex Dreams following DWUW might be a little too s-xual for the general public to digest.

I can't believe people are still negative :')

DWUW has proven to interscope & Gaga that it has huge potential.

The song impacts radio on the 4th of nov, and yet it already has over 3m+ AL growing by the day, spun in multiple countries and it's getting such positive reactions.

Yeah the UK problem is a bummer, but more for the UK and their chart system. It'l get resolved, and if it doesn't chart very high why does that matter? Doesn't stop it being a hit.

Do What You Want will be massive in the US - it's already showing.

No-one's complaining on this thread though about DWUW.

There's difference between complaining and discussion. We are allowed to discuss the decision that was made; regardless who made it. Quit being overdramatic regarding immaturity/not deserving new music. lol

Interesting article. Some of it is Interscope PR but I liked how they gave examples of changes in single choices by other artists in the past; it's to be expected now that you can get instant data and feedback.

Don't believe that "The song hit No. 1 [on iTunes] in 64 countries" had much to do with it since that was due to pre-orders, but ""the immediate and overwhelming worldwide reaction" to the song, the critical response to "Do What U Want" has been blindingly positive" rings true - the reviews of the song were very positive including from some outlets that don't usually praise Gaga like that.

The song is really good and I can see why it has wide appeal. After it is released to radio it could do very well, with an even better sustained run than Applause. This can only be good for the album. Venus could be a single later, like in Jan/Feb.
