Rae 86
I haven't watched the video so I don't know the context but I disagree with what you're saying. A lot of knowledge is formed around language. How would you feel if you were suddenly forced to learn Mandarin, for example? But more important than just how everyone would feel, different languages convey ideas in different ways, and your way of thinking is formed by our language. The English language, for example, has a lot of creativity needed, while Chinese requires you to be more logical. The taking away of languages is a loss of different ways of thinking and takes away from the diversity of this planet, which in turn hinders our ability to have conflicting ideas. If we all thought the same things, we'd never get very far. One od the beautiful things of this planet is that we all think in different ways and can build upon each other's ideas and have a balanced point of view. Taking away language takes away from that incredible thing. Talking the same language would make understanding easier on everyone. Like I said it will not come to reality but I wish it would. Just think of how it would be so easy to travel and not worry about language barriers. Thats it. Don't make it so complacated unless thats your purpose. Wendell 0
Talking the same language would make understanding easier on everyone. Like I said it will not come to reality but I wish it would. Just think of how it would be so easy to travel and not worry about language barriers. Thats it. Don't make it so complacated unless thats your purpose. Well yes it would resolve some problems but we have enough technology and sense of globalism to easily overcome most of those problems. The loss of language also creates a loss of culture which has a much greater impact. I'm not disagreeing in the terms that it would make certain tasks easier, all I'm saying is that the pros outweigh the cons of the idea. I'm not trying to make it more complicated I'm simply stating what the implications of it would be, since it's a view that many people share but haven't thought carefully about. I'm not trying to offend you I just wanted to express my opinion on the topic, and that's exactly having multiple languages is important. I'm a very seasoned traveller and have lived in many places and have met many different people who speak many different languages and it's honestly not THAT hard to communicate, even over just the past few years I've noticed that the barriers that languages present are shrinking so I'd think it'd be even easier in the future. Honestly, at this stage I think it's mostly a problem of ethnocentrism and people not willing to give a good effort to communicate.
