Yes but if it flops, she loses major momentum for the entire era. She's still trying to gain the public back right now so I personally believe a safe single is the way to go. DWUW isn't risky at all, Venus is. Hopefully DWUW will do well so she can give Venus a chance later down the line.

 This, I love Venus but is too risky now, maybe later

See, it's not risky and risky at the same time which makes it a 'hit' instead of a 'smash'. The production wasn't risky at all but the lyrics are.

yes, agree!

For how long is she gonna "gain the public back"? This is Gaga we're talking about. Releasing Venus was a great idea tbh but I digress. It doesn't matter. She's chosen DWUW. I think it will do good but won't smash and with each consecutive single from an era USUALLY getting less success, she might be blowing away the chance of a real massive smash that is Venus.

Actually, anything risky released after the album has a bigger chance to flop. Anything released before the album is guaranteed 110k first-week sales from pre-orders, hype and good radio support.

Idk, I just think the BTW era created a massive wound in her image that is still healing, and I think an R&B song with a popular R&B artist is on the way to recovery. It's something relatable and easy for the public to listen to. Once they're on her side again, it's time for something more risky.

Yes, the single itself will do better, but--especially for an artist like Gaga who has demonstrated genuine ability to push albums--singles are meant as promotional tools and are secondary to album sales. Thus, you'd rather have that hiccup of a flop AFTER the album has been released and people are aware of it and what it has to offer as a whole.

You may be right but it's because the public wanted more of her older smashing pop music. DWUW is great but do you really see it as a massive smash? Cause I believe Venus can do that, it's fun, extremely catchy (blasting off to a new dimension :music: ) and could just be enjoyed by everyone like the old Gaga. I really hope DWUW can do this cause I love DWUW but I see more of Applause's success or less since it's not the lead.

Not taking risks and playing as safe as possible will hurt her rather than heal her. If we don't get one of the album's highlights as singles again :rip:

Billboard is predicting 150-160K for DWUW. What was Magoo's prediction?

160k I believe was his prediction. Around 100k from pre-orders and only 60k new sales :rip:
