The whole thing about Gaga is that she isnt obsessed with success or number #1 hits.  If Gaga was concerned with getting #1 hits, she could do it easily.  It wouldnt be complicated for her to write a song about love or something generic like everyone else does, put a generic beat to it, and put a generic video to it.  But she doesnt want to do that she wants to push boundaries...she wants to rely on her own effots and abilities.

You guys really dont think Gaga couldnt go #1 if she turned down her "weirdness" and teamed up with Dr. Luke to create some generic bull****?   That would be too easy.

If you want to call that being egocentric, then go ahead, but I dont think you understand her career goals if you think that.

so because she wants to make art with her friends instead of proffesionals you don't like she has an ego?

And they like to denigrate Gaga's choices by calling her friends "amateurs", but Gaga's friends are all professionals, it's what they do for a living.  And need I say that every one of her collaborators is more successful in the real world then anyone complaining about them in this forum.  What we have here is a bunch of armchair wannabe Gaga career managers who are more interested in the bottom line than in original music and art.

Applause hasn't even gone silver (it's sold 170K copies as of late September, less than Marry The Night) in the United Kingdom, the third biggest music market in the world. Not to mention its abysmal sales in other important major music markets.

Sorry if that bothers you  Some of us don't care though

So two moderators support this post, when in fact it IS rude and flamebaiting. Nissa basically insulted many fans here.

TALK ABOUT RULES.

Maybe they agreed with MOST of it? Didn't you call people out for just picking out part of your posts to criticize, but not looking at the rest?

TALK ABOUT IRONY.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

Why do you even care about charts? We should help Gaga get higher on the charts, but if you're only a fan of an artist just because they get #1's all the time, what's the point? :awkney:

And what if I'm not really impressed with the musical output so far after 2 years of waiting?

maybe because it's her art?

this is something i've been meaning to post, but i'm sorry musicians do not write music for their fans. they make music because it's what they're good at, and if people like it, then they become fans. it's not "oh i wanted to become a musician to write music for my fans." no. it's "i wanted to make music because it's something i like to personally do." she doesn't have to write music for us. stop saying that. she can make HER music for HERSELF.

This is irrelevant. I don't want us to write songs about us but declaring her self to put Art in pop culture is a bit to much. May like a love song about Taylor and another issue not about "living for the applause" It's seems self centered to me

Don't judge me, please, this is just my opinion.

But I found myself thinking about the whole Applause drama, and Born This Way's lack of appeal, and etc, and I feel like it's all her fault. I feel like she's so full of herself and she thinks everything she does is gold and perfect, when in fact she needs a lot of professional help to make her ideas and creativity work.

Wait........... you can read minds?  :ohno:

yes. if she wanted to make art with her friends she should not have become a pop star but some bar singer. this is the pop music- if you make good song and videos you will survive. if not- then bye

Wrecking Ball was directed by a photog and turned out really well, so I'm not sure what your point is with that

Come on, this video didnt turn out "really well". Terry Richardson can be very interesting but Wrecking Ball is anything but inspiring.

Well that's my opinion.

Hasn't she explained the meaning behind the song multiple times, though?

Nudity aside, I thought it was a simple and beautiful video visually shrug: But it's obvious lots of people disagree lol

The main reason why BTM flopped was because she has said that it's gonna be the best album of 10 years. It was a great album, but lots of people started to hate her and thought that she was egoistic.

But it's not that hard to understand her. She writes and produces all of her songs and videos, so she's proud of them and not afraid to tell how perfect they are. I write songs, and even though most of them are awful, I'm still proud of them. So why she shouldn't? Her songs are amazing, and she has every rights to be proud of what she does.
