Vernier 3,786
If you work with someone who just doesn't kiss your ass and tells you "this won't work", you'll probably understand that it really won't work.Like she took Joseph Khan's advice then? Okay, just wondering this "yes man" idea that you seem to have come up with, is it based on anything in particular or just a pointless gut feeling? Because everything else from people that have worked with Gaga seems to be like she takes criticisms on board very well. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn
TimisaMonster 31,073
I agree with you on the fact that sometimes the HAUS seems to "kiss butt" with her...She should start using professional directors, but that doesn't mean photographers can't direct her videos...Aren't videos just moving pictures? I understand some being disappointed that APPLAUSE wasn't the instant #1 like BTW was for 6 weeks, but the best is yet to come and she'll slay REALLY hard later! Plus, think about the competition rn! Miley is slaying with her #1 song, album, controversy, and constant media attention! Katy Perry seems to be a quiet #1 artist too! 3 of her songs were in the Top 10 on ITunes all at once! Gaga should've released ARTPOP sooner, but we already know why she couldn't... ARTPOP is coming... Stream my new single, 💜"Heartbeat"💜, on Spotify! craig 680
Your ideas can be clear and cohesive, but only to you... Sometimes an outside source can be useful, especially if they are not related to you emotionally. Can Gaga grow to be clear and polished? yes. But its not something that can come in a few years. What makes you think pro directors specialize it taking brilliant but confused ideas and making a coherent product? That's a special skill. Many do their own thing for more puppet-like artists, and may not happy with Gaga having a lot of input at all. Pure Adrenaline 1,518
Agreed, sometimes Gaga could benefit from the KISS principle (keep it simple smarty). But a lot of her best works involve complexity and overdoing it. (Bad Romance song, Telephone video). Sometimes it's brilliant, sometimes a little off. But that's her artistic personality. Enough of her fans love it that they'd call her lazy and boring if she tried ultra-simple. when I find out that I&V are the directors for Applause. The first thing that I thought was of the Y&I music video. Where every scene has it's own theme and once explained the video makes sense but if I wasn't Gaga fan and I just hit in to watch the video all I see is: Gaga walking on road with bloody legs, then Gaga on piano making out with herself, then fish s-x and some hald naked dude toturing Gaga and on top of that wedding scenes flasing constantly through the entire video and that would leave the non fan in like what was the point of all this....and then move on. What confuse people is what they are afraid of. I think this is why most of the people are turnt off by Gaga, because simply what she does is above their simple thinking and to understand some of her recent work u have to put some thinking in it. So to get back on point I was afraid that the Applause video will be similar in it's production and editing to Y&I ... and it was. There were so much going on that for the GP she just look like full of herself egoistic selfish star. While the video was better than all the BTW video and the Alejandro video. The concept was the thing that probably is too much. At first Gaga said that the video will be "B&W and Color will be fithing against for a bit of your applause" then she said there will be handpainted scenes, then there was the scene where she was on the bed she said that that's about when she was in chair, then the swan scene which had total different concept that she explained on twitter, then come the birth of venus. In the Applause video there was material for like 3 different videos. It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely
VforVendetta 2,024
yeah thats what i mean, shes been writing just mindless fun pop tunes all because of fans like this, like fans who make threads that shes become self centered, or that shes fading, or that they want her to slay again, all those generic tunes shes been making for an album that was suppose to be called ARTPOP, because she wanted to plese you guys. months ago, people where cringing at the idea of anything being dark or controversial, but now that its worked for a new comer with a good girl image to shed, everyones pulling at straws at ways gaga can reclaim her spot as top provacateur. im not the one discussing her fading, at all, its everyone else whose creating this false aura of decay that is not even there right now. when everyone gets a ****ing grip and starts caring about whats important, then ill stop having to defend her. I don't think that any of the songs Gaga has given us from ARTPOP is mindless Pop. I think that all these tracks are a step forward from BTW which means that she is evolving. I don't remember if I've done this conversation with you again though...

Brandon 457
She needs to do more promo. Candids, tracklist, cover. We are b---hing because we are not hyped enough. We are not hyped enough because there is barely anything to hype about. This fanbase will call this era underperformed. Remember the BTW metro ads :legend:
Crash 11
Which is why I'd rather not give my opinion and have my notifications flooded with "you're a flop fan" or "shut up nobody cares". Then good luck with ever being able to state your opinion on something or somebody that's well liked with lots of fans, because basically that's what you'll get, though you'll also get some valid opinions sprinkled in
MasterOfPuppets 170
PHOTOGRAPHERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. They are PHOTOGRAPHERS. Give me a P! P Give me an H! H Give me an O! O PHOOOOOTOGRAPHERSSSS Not video directors. as far as I'm concerned they made a bunch of music videos for bjork, and fashion videos like the beautiful dior secret gardens... i recommend you to watch it you will see that as directors they are up to par with all the others she could have hired ! at least in my opinion
heavymlover 340
But how do you know if they became friends because of their professional relationship? If that was the case, Lady Starlight would produce Gaga's songs and Taylor would be her creative director. Most of the people that work at the Haus are there because of their talent and because they are professionals in their fields. Yeah, there might be friends connections there, but all the people there know what they are doing. Because honestly, is there any other current pop artist that displays that much creativity? I don't think so. Edited October 3, 2013 by heavymlover
dontbesweet 7
Agreed. I honestly feel like she has so much talent and so many ideas that her work doesn't always seem so clear/cohesive. I feel like it's sometimes hard for her to put all of her ideas together to form a smooth music video or performance. Does that make sense? For example, Katy Perry lacks the imagination of GaGa, but this actually works for her because her content is simple and basic. It's planned out correctly. GaGa sometimes does need professional help, whether that means hiring accomplished directors for her music videos and performances, just like other great artists have (Madonna, Michael Jackson -> all used great directors for their work), or asking for advice with her image in general. I know many of you will say she's just expressing herself, but in order to be extremely successful in this business you have to create clear and consistent work.

That's a special skill. Many do their own thing for more puppet-like artists, and may not happy with Gaga having a lot of input at all. I'm not saying they do. Any director from any line can be good with focusing stuff, hence why editors exist. Forcing her with anyone isn't an answer, but someone who understands her vision, but also understands when to stop is key. Like me, back when I was directing and editing, I had no creative output, but damn if I can't take someone elses idea and improve it by streamlining it/polishing it/focusing it. Klein, for example, is pro, but is messy and cliche.
teo 609
You're not getting the point and honestly I ran out of ways to explain what I'm trying to say. Well I'm sorry I don't feel the same way as you do I guess... I don't see how her friends can't be professionals, just cause they're her friends. And btw it's actually harder to be a photographer than a "music video director" if that's even a real profession.
