Griffin 6
Applause is above Royals? Okay... There are 6 factors for the chart that are equally important. They're based off the Billboard Digital Songs, Radio Songs, Streaming Songs, YouTube and On Demand Songs chart. If an artist whose song already appears in the chart because of those things is in the Top 10 of the social 50, their score is also standardised (lowered). Let's compare Gaga and Lorde's week from September 27 - October 4. Applause - #7 on Digital, #9 on airplay, #10 on streaming, on demand and youtube. No Social bonus. Royals - #1 on Digital, #6 on airplay, #4 on streaming and #2 on demand. No social bonus either. The difference is that Gaga's Applause video appeared in the high end of the Youtube chart. Lorde's did not appear at all on the Youtube chart. This chart is unweighted and favours across the board relevancy, which is why this has occurred. I did not choose this to benefit Gaga, but it just so happens that artists like Gaga will often chart higher as more people will tune into her across all charts and watch the video, etc. Lorde fans at this point in her career would just buy the song and enjoy it. Griffin 6
If anyone's interested, due to the criteria, songs that have been on the chart a while take longer to get out of the Top 10, unlike the Hot 100. Roar is topping this chart whilst Wrecking Ball tops the Hot 100, and next week (tomorrow) it looks like Wrecking Ball will top my chart whilst Royals will rule the official Billboard chart. Funny that despite the fact these numbers are from the same tracking week as the Hot 100, there already seems to be a 1-week lag. Often a song tops sales, followed by streaming + youtube and then airplay. You're more likely to chart high here if you have consistent #10's or #11's in each category than a #1 in airplay but a #9 or #10 in everything else.
