This is the same fallacy as thinking EVERYONE should go EDM just because Gaga and Black Eyed Peas are slaying with it.

I expect Gaga and Madeon will give us something innovative sounding.

It isn't a fallacy when there's entire year of chart proof to go on. Some of the biggest hits of the year are simple ballads. They can get as innovative as they want, but simple is what the GP prefers.

I want 2nd single to be BR/PF sized success.I want it to have big impact. It should be the best song from the album, lyrically and musically. It must have the spark that Applause didn't have. And I hope music video is really great, and controversial.

A single and an album aren't even the same form of release, they aren't going to impact each other .. ? If Katy dropped Unconditionally the same week id understand

The media would still make the comparasions. Let people talk about Katy that week.

Just a couple ballad hits. The biggest hits were Macklemore Rap, R&B throwback to 70's, and Dr. Luke (Roar, Wreck).

Bruno Mars chart power has cooled down.

She can't plan around media BS though .. Just my opinion

The exact opposite should happen though - Gaga should release to stop people from talking about Katy and get people talking about her.

Honestly, they expected Applause to do great on its own like Born This Way (single) did, BTW had #1 for six weeks with only one promo performance.

But I think that if I had to do the promo for Applause:

19 August - single release with video at GMA and 5-day long radio deal including Gaga VMA performance promo

26 August - second week with VMA performance

UK&Australia/NZ release

27 August - Radio interviews with multiple UK Radio Stations

28-30 August - Performance of Applause *somewhere* in the UK

31 August - XFactor UK Performance of Applause

1 September - iTunes Festival performance of Applause

2 September - Radio interviews with US Radio Stations KIIS, Z100, KISS.

- Vacation

- October 28th 2nd single release

- November 11th album released

Well, that would be awesome, but I changed it to reality after the itunes performance  :staymad:

Wrecking Ball is one of the biggest examples of a simple ballad though. lol. JGMAR, Stay, WIWYM were all huge too. I just think Gaga shouldn't release a second single that has a similar EDM sound to Applause if Applause didn't make that much of an impact.

What I really want from the next single is controversy. That's what Applause is completely lacking. Yeah I want it to chart well and **** but I need some more controversy from Gaga :deadbanana:

Wreck is only simple in having generic lyrics - it has interesting production that goes from soft to loud.

I agree the 2nd single needs to sound different, not a club banger. But that doesn't mean as boring as Stay.

Honestly guys, I don't think that the secret of success lies so much on the type of a commercial song, a good song is a good song. Ballads at the moment are very well received by the GP and so a ballad now is a wise strategy. On the other hand since Gaga has released an EDM club banger song as the first single and the public received it well, she could also release an other EDM influenced song and smash much harder that Applause. Of course anything could also flop. I think thay either choice is good...

Survival's about to pass WorkB anytime now on iTunes. It's either Eminem or Miley who'll put the Fox out of the top 10.

AND Applause :ohno:
