Good point.  Applause from my figures went up from 11.8K to 13.2K sales in the last day, an increase of 1400 over the day.

Next is how to calibrate album sales - I found this in the last Billboard 200 article

 

"His first post-"Voice" release, "Come Through For You," debuted and peaked at No. 134 with a 10,000 start."  It seems with albums there is a long tail, so a #100 album may sell a third of a #10 album.  Perhaps that's why Billboard stretch the album chart to 200 entries.

 

So if #134 album sold 10K in a week, then say #90 is a touch more, say 12K; that's 1.7K/day.  But typically for an album, 40% will be from itunes so say 700 copies/day.

 

Then fine, half the Applause increase is due to weekend and half due to ARTPOP preorders at around 700/day (3.5K/week)

Can't wait to see how DWYW will affect ARTPOP's pre orders :} let's hope for at least 15k more pre orders for ARTPOP which means bigger boost for VENUS and then venus should boost pre orders again which means even bigger boost for DOPE

can you tell us your personal predictions on PRISM and ARTPOP first week sales? They doesn't have to be accurate, just tell us your thoughts

 

I don't have any personal prediction - your guess is as good as any.  I only try to work things out from actual figures I can get my hands on.  What I'm presently looking out for are measures of the pre-orders of ARTPOP (and PRISM), which should then predicate the likely release performance, though noting that PRISM is the closer to release so should be getting the faster preorders now.   The amount of itunes preorders might be estimated from the album itunes positions over the duration of the availability, or better by the size of the jump when any singles under the pre-order are released (e.g. with DH/WOA it was 15-20K).  I'm looking for the corresponding jumps when Conditionally and DWUW/Venus/Dope are released.
