I think (Unlike most of you) that It Is quiet smart to release the song on the 27 (hopefully It will be later evening and not In the morning tho :rip: ) because once she hit number 1 on Itunes It Is an extra PROMO, which leads to even more sales.. If It get stucked at number 2 for example is way worse so ..

It's even possible that If 2 songs are selling almost the same, and one of the 2 hit number 1 It will stay there and block the other, which means If It sells as much as 1D / Taylor or JB It may manage to stay ahead If It hits number 1 first ...

Look at Applause, it reached #2 in its first day but kept getting red updates for the rest of the week.

What would really be the nail in the coffin is if she debuted less than Miley.

It's kind of given that Gaga will debut with atleast 400 thou. so I'm not worried. :)

If this is how Miley is doing, then I only see Katy debuting with 350 thou. tops.

Lot more people actually like Katy, Gaga, and their music.

Controversy drives youtube views, but liking an artist and their music drives album sales.

inb4 Katy debutes with 200k

I'm projecting 300-400K for her, maybe too high, but the Roar debut (to me) indicated big fan base growth.

True but Katy doesn't have the dedicated fanbase large enough to drive huge debut sales. Most people only care about her petty songs, and then forget about her album and her as an artist.

Does iTunes report specific numbers? :awkney:

No but as someone said earlier, Applause ranked Top 4 on Amazon sales when it didn't even come in Top 4 on the HDS chart. It's obvious the iTunes sales dominate Amazon sales unless a 99 cent deal is involved.

Digital services such as iTunes and Amazon MP3: 37%

Walmart, Target and other mass merchants: 29%

Best Buy and similar chains: 15%

Non-traditional outlets such as Amazon physical sales, mail order, venue and fan club sales: 10%

    Indie stores: 7%

With albums in the digital age, debut size keeps increasing relative to total album sales.

Teenage Dream selling over 10x it's debut week suggests Katy has grown her album buying fans.

Gaga is gonna side with me and make craig angry. Donatella AND aura will BOTH be on iTunes at midnight, on top of Jewels & Drugs and 'ARTPOP' song.

4 promo singles in one week, 5 Gaga songs in the Top 10 at once

My guess for why they haven't used Aura as a promo single is that they think it has potential to be a single and they don't want an Edge of Glory situation to repeat itself.
