Of course Applause is nowhere near the force of her biggest singles, but Gaga is first and foremost an album artist, and people are anticipating ARTPOP more than any other album this quarter. People will buy Katy's singles because they like the song, but that doesn't mean they're planning on buying the album. In fact, most people could care less about her album but will buy her singles.
