MJ Holland 4
Well, this was the best out of the 3 performances we have  Sweet and on point, like a school play, but with professionals. I love it !

Guest
I think this is my favorite Applause performance so far, it's just awesome! And the vocals are the BEST she's done yet for the song! About to watch The Wizard of Oz tbh.
Disco Heaven 46
Additionally, it WAS a bit innovative since the live audience was part of the show, audience itself becoming part of the Applause. The outside audience, then witnessing the audience performing. Gaga Stigmata and the PhD set will have a field day with this. I can't recall any recent major pop artists doing this today even though it's common in theater. It was very theatrical and I liked how it told a story in just under 5 minutes. It's rather spectacular in that way. Beautiful colorful set, vocals were amazing and slayed, appealing to the GP and well done! She killed the performance! I like how Gaga is bringing theater to the general audience. Yessss! I don't see any other popstar being so theatrical nowadays. I love that in Gaga, because she can play multiple roles in different performances, and most of the time she just nails it in such a classy way. This performance may not be my cup of tea, but if she wanted to do some 'Gaga of Oz' performance and that was the goal, she managed to do it in such a very well executed way. I don't care if she gets recognition for that outside the fanbase, but it's just so silly to watch fans dragging her for something she worked so hard to do, and it's not even a music video or a really big deal like that. This performance was obviously meant for the GP, not the fans. And the GP probably really liked this performance, you can tell by the iTunes charts at this exact moment. She's doing fine! Anyway, it's fascinating how she puts such effort in her performances, even when it's just a live performance of a lead single in a morning show. Most popstars simply go there and sing the fxcking song, y'know? Such a lovely woman. Edited September 9, 2013 by Disco Heaven
Snowyrain 38
ART and POP in a one shape. I hope this era keeps going in this way. Can you imagine a Dali-like music video or Swan Lake ballet style performances ?
Magic 0
I really like her interview look and the look when she's leaving the studio; she looks beautiful, I wish she'd done something more like that for the performance. I was in no way expecting a huge-scale performance, but I was expecting some kind of an idea that took inspiration from Oz without recreating it. I can see the appeal to it and it's cute, it's just not for me. I must say though, I don't appreciate people saying that if you don't like it you obviously don't appreciate simplicity. I absolutely appreciate a toned down, minimalist aesthetic when it's done well, but honestly I would not describe this performance as "simple": there was a dog, costume changes, other characters on stage, there was actually a lot going on. One of my problems with it was that it crammed too much into such a short space of time, one killer look with an Oz influence would have been epic. I was not anticipating acrobatics, fireworks, swinging from the ceiling or anything like that, but I was expecting a twist; she has said recently that she takes inspiration from things and brings them to a new place so that you don't even really recognise where it came from and I guess I was expecting that. It was too literal for me, almost like a play version of the film. I don't mean this to bash her I absolutely appreciate her efforts, always. Regardless of whether I like it, I understand she puts a lot of hard work into everything for us and that's one of the things I love about her. I'm glad some people liked it, like I said I can see how it would appeal to people. However, I don't like being made to feel like I'm a bad fan for not liking it, or for speaking my mind about it. If you genuinely love everything she does all the time that's brilliant, but I will never pretend to like it if I don't. I think being a good fan is appreciating the effort of the artist regardless of whether you like it and being able to discuss what it is you do or don't like about the work they put out in an objective way. Disco Heaven 46
Whether that was in response to my comment or not - I will clarify that my feedback had nothing to do with her or her performance. Yes, her vocals slayed and the performance was great!!!! I did not have expectations, nor did I have any drama - I was commenting on my experience of other fans there who were not nice at all and were really disrespectful about the whole experience. Very sad, but I will say it was a sweet performance and I am even more excited of what is to come from her! :) That was not a response to you at all, sweetie. I just get annoyed sometimes by some fans that don't recognize how she works hard on everything she does, even when it's just a promo performance, and expect her to be just perfect in everything. But I'm not commenting about specific users here, just some kind of overly negative attitude that some fans have since BTW era... However, I agree with you, that was a cure performance and I'm excited about this ARTPOP era!
Philip 4
Honestly only things I liked was the Glinda outfit, the interview outfit, fozzi, the poppy audience. Given morning television and the GP, it was successful but I found it a bit cheesy in spots :) It was really campy but that's fine. I really couldn't wrap my head around the lion's outfit though. Like the tail was attached on so weirdly... Edited September 9, 2013 by Philip
VenusWarhol 94
I'm sorry but I didn't like it, it was too literal for me. But she sounded great, her vocals were on point. And I think she wants to appel to the GP so that's why she's playing safe.
