For instance, Call Me Maybe, Gangnam Style, Blurred Lines, Rolling in the Deep, Bad Romance, Baby all have global and cultural impact, but they all sound SO very different from each other. I mean, Katy Perry and Rihanna scored all those #1 but they didn't seem to have the cultural impact that Gaga and others had. Further, both great AND bad songs become HUGE hits. Even Jimmy Iovine, who has one of the best ears in the music industry, cannot predict as he truly thought Applause would smash! So I think we cannot predict the GP response, and what Gaga is doing is writing the best music she can, performing her best and excelling. That's all she can do for now and I appreciate how she always wants to excel and always strives for excellence as witnessed from the iTunes festival. In other words, I think it's really hard to write globally impactful hits one after the other, so it's best to focus on the music, which is what Gaga is doing now. GGD us a poll to vote for the 4th Born This Way single back in 2011 and despite Yoü & I being second to last, it was the fourth single. I think the label have probably already picked single two.
