Is anyone else disappointed?

Yes! None of the new songs cant even come close to ALEJANDRO! Let alone Bad Romance or DITD

I love her songwriting for this album. I think it is her best yet, though I think Born This Way had the worst writing of her career so far in a general sense though there are some songs I love, such as Marry The Night.

I just have to say, Alejandro has been my ultimate favorite Gaga song for as long as I know. Nothing has come close to surpassing it. Every single lyric, beat, melody, ugh, the song like explains my life away as I know it and is just an eargasm. Brilliantly written. I will agree,TFM is a highlight of her writing but I think the writing on ARTPOP is great, just different. We have to remember, Alejandro wasn't even that popular compared to her other songs. There was something special about TFM writing but this has something extremely special too. While Alejandro will always have a place in my heart, it's now dated, and the things it represented in my life have faded anyway. This era came just in time.

ARTPOP and Sex Dreams are my too favorites right now. Beautiful songs.

I was really disappointed with Jewels N' Drugs. It just wasn't what I like at all

Just remember, these are live versions :)

I won't die, but I can't live without you

Don't immediately bash on OP, guys, at least take it into consideration. "tl;dr" doesn't really help.

I'm going to have to disagree. Some things here and there were a bit flat, and I totally get where OP is coming from, but overall it was decent. She seemed very happy to be performing again, so that's what mattered the most. Some of the songs sounded... off, but it might be my own audio. Plus, it's just "live" versions, so I'm a bit excited to hear what the album can bring.

I was a bit wodded when she said TI couldn't be there, haha.

3 points in and ready for more

I can understand why you are disappointed cause I feel the way you've described about the Song ARTPOP itself, I really wasn't impressed but I actually LOVE Jewels & Drugs I think it's awesome.

Frankenztein

I love pretty much everything, but sometimes the lyrics she writes don't do it for me. It's probably been my biggest contention with her in terms of quality in all of her albums though. Although she has written some great ones, she's written way more mediocre ones. I love the music, her vocals, her performance, and everything else, but sometimes it feels like she hasn't put much effort at all into some ill fitting lyrics.

ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY

Not really, I think songs such as MANiCURE and Swine have showed her progression as an artist. She had no set audience she was looking to for this album, she did it and made the songs for us, you can have your opinion, but I also think if you truly valued Gaga's artistry you would appreciate her performance. She looked/danced/performed the best in awhile, looked like she did when the Monsterball first started. Disappointed that you're a monster tbh and i feel sorry you feel that way. Direct yourself to PRISM where the songs are going to sound even more commercial and have no real concept behind them

Swine and ARTPOP beg to differ.

Swine is her most hardcore record ever.

I'm not trying to be negative here, and I really am happy for those who are in love with the new music and the direction she's taking. But speaking as a loving fan, and not as a heartless critic, I'm just not digging the new music.

Like I said, I'm not trying to be negative, but I'm just curious to hear thoughts from anyone else who isn't ecstatic about the new music, because most of what I've read so far has been praise. I'm curious to know what people on the other side think.

Really the only song I liked was Swine (and Aura, but we already had heard that). I found most of the other songs to be just laughably bad. I wouldn't want to listen to any of those songs more than a few times. I found the lyrics, in particular, to be just awful. Easily the worst that she has ever put out.

It seemed like not only was the music different, but Gaga was as well. She seems so hurt, like she can barely keep herself together. I was really turned off during most of the performance because I felt like I was watching a washed-up version of Gaga perform, rather than the amazing performer I fell in love with. Did anyone else feel that way? She just seems so plagued by demons.

I don't even want to lure myself into thinking that the studio versions will be better, because I already made the mistake of getting excited for the lead single, the VMA performance, and for these new songs, all of which I've found to be very disappointing, particularly after waiting so patiently for so long and being told over and over that this would blow all of her previous work out of the water somehow. Going into the rest of the era, I think having no expectations will be best, for me, anyway.

I think some part of her performance was too wild and as u said maybe plagued by damons. I didnt like screaming parts, I even thought maybe she was too high during the show. But let;s wait and see what she has for us :) I also dont know what she meant by song SWINE. Dont know who was the person she dedicated the song to.

The only two songs I'm not wild about are Sex Dreams and MANiCURE. But I hated SHICD and Bloody Mary when I first heard them, now I love them. So no telling if they'll grow on me. I Wanna Be With You is okay, We all know it's there to be the quintessential ballad for the album. I can't really give my opinion on it since it is in a different league among the likes of Brown Eyes, Speechless and You and I. I can say that I like it the best out of the ballads we have currently, only Speechless is competing with it to be honest.

I loved Swine and Aura. I've been a huge EDM fan for years so for Gaga to go in that direction is really exciting for me. MANiCURE, Sex Dreams and ARTPOP eventually grew on me so I can appreciate them but admittedly I wasn't feeling them upon first listen. But 'laughably' bad? No way. We still have seven songs we haven't heard yet so we have much more to look forward to.

I'm really shocked (but also glad) no one else feels this way. I, too, was very disappointed with the performance today. And trust me, I live, sleep, eat, and breathe Gaga, but nothing today really impressed me. Everything just fell flat. And it's annoying because I so badly want to like it, but I just don't know if I do. I did like MANiCURE, Sex Dreams, and parts of Swine, but everything else was flat. I'm just kind of shocked that this is what she's been working on the past two years. I wasn't expecting her to go back to previous eras or not grow as an artist, but I almost feel like she's not growing now. I agree with you that the lyrics were not that impressive and songs like ARTPOP and I Wanna Be With You were kind of cheesy. Aura has grown on me (I think I was just disappointed the first time I heard it).

I'm sad cause I was so, so excited for ARTPOP but now I'm scared I won't like or love it as much as the last three albums. I do love Applause though- and I was excited when she said it almost didn't make the album because that would mean there are better songs. However from tonight, I would say Applause is the strongest.

I am super excited for Ratchet though! And I know the studio versions will be different, but I loved You and I and Speechless before I heard the studio versions and I didn't get that same feeling today.

I just wish I could've connected and love each song cause I love Gaga so much.
