Lady 748
the song is already on red updates..and the radio spins went down from +175 to +14 in less than 48 hours...i think she should release a second single (with no music video) like rihanna does to support the first single...maybe second single only in asia or europe (swine sounds awesome), beyonce had a double single and both of the songs were smash hits Well, at this point it seems that we just have to wait and see how is her team going to act on that

Her last update was "red" but her number went up; it's holding a higher average this week so far compared to last week. VMAs should help Gaga at least hold #4 next week if not compete for #3 with Blurred Lines (assuming Katy Perry and Eminem are at odds for the top two spots and Miley continues to slide). You're always so negative about Gaga's sales in your posts, lighten up and try to enjoy the single more than stressing over the chart position. Longevity in the top 10 is better than rushing to peak then free-falling.
Mills 446
At least her lead single can finally be called a top five hit at best. Congratulations!

Mama Ru 994
And even after this, some delusional monsters will keep saying she's flopping just because she's not #1. Lol. By their standards then, I guess the entire TFM era was a flop. :laughga: Im blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch.
Weasel 12,525
Applause is only 3% away from being number 3 in the US, but it's also 3 % away from being number 5.

I do get what you're saying, but the Beyonce comparison isn't realistic when her record was double-disc with contrasting styles that were designed to be a sort of ying and yang to each other. Gaga is going to keep promoting heavily by the looks of it, and I'd imagine she might wait until October to consider dropping another single unless one of her newest songs is really well received after her iTunes performance or something. If the next single is the Telephone continuation or has something insane for the video/performances, Gaga might want to take her time before rushing it out to try and squeeze Applause past the massive competition she's facing. Gaga sold 163,000 copies this week, down 25% compared to Roar being down 30%, and Gaga sold 20,000 more digital downloads than Miley but Miley's radioplay and streaming kept her ahead so lets focus on the positive here!
Hairypig 0
I really don't care about the charts because in the end, I really love her music and couldn't care less about what's on the charts. However, what worries me about this is that not being on the charts = less money = less awesome/bigger tours. Am I right with this?

Bebe 16,946
This. FINALLY someone who gets it. she needs to wait til after ARTPOP to release the 2nd single, maybe december. she needs to milk applause as much as possible and make this era last. we dont want BTW all over again. She needs to release a second single before ARTPOP is released unless you want to see her struggle with singles. If she sells as many albums as we would like, people are less likely to buy the singles because they have the singles already.
StrawberryBlond 14,215
I've never understood why so many of her US fans think she's flopping when the US is one of the few countries where a #1 is quite easily within her reach what with their habit of making songs take weeks and weeks to hit #1. Of course, I doubt it'll be a #1, but top three, and possibly #2, at a push, most definitely. The US is one of the few countries where you have so many opportunities to reach the top whereas in most of the world, if you don't debut at #1, you've had it. It means the US charts are a lot more boring but it also means your faves have a lot more longevity and getting a #1 doesn't come down purely to the competition in your release week.
