I don't understand why songs are released so late on the UK, also the iTunes top 40 is so boring... I don't know half of the songs from the top 10.

It was clearly Gaga's decision to release the single this month, and as for the UK iTunes top 40 being boring I think you're mistaken. :awkney:

But it's not only G.U.Y., for example Problem and I Will Never Let You Down are released WW already but not in the UK.

And well, the second part is more of a personal opinion.

Is Calvin going to get that #1, then? Mr Probz has taken quite a lead since Wednesday with no signs of stopping. Because Summer's been on preorder so long, it has this unfortunate effect of downloads all but stopping very soon after official release. And don't you have to have been at the top for at least 3 days straight to get to #1? Of course, this is only itunes sales, but they basically mirror other outlets too. And Calvin does have this uncanny ability to frequently get #2 singles. The first 4 singles from 18 Months all went to #2 in the UK.

In other news, Cher Lloyd's album is being released on May 23rd in Australia and May 27th in the US and Canada, but its emerged that her UK fans will have to wait until July 28th. Ok, they can get it imported, but that'll cost more and won't count towards her chart position. Her UK fans have got shafted ever since she got stationed in America. The music industry is such a mess as regards the whole release thing. A summer release for an album is a terrible idea unless the artist is absolutely massive. Obviously, they're doing this so she has the time to properly promote in America and its UK release will guarantee a high chart position with nothing to compete with, but it's still ridiculous and will likely backfire. It's bad enough when singles are put up for preorder for 2 months while the US get it, but full albums? That's a step too far. Can you imagine how much Gaga's sales would've suffered if she'd released AP in January for the UK, once the album's tracks have already been listened to all over the net for the last two months?

As I said before, preordering has a lot to answer for. I wouldn't mind if it was used occasionally, but right now, everyone's doing it, including some major artists, and it's just not fair or even makes sense. The whole point of the charts is to show what was most popular this week, and this week alone. Not what's been popular for the last two months but been kept on the down low until now. It's only giving even more ammo to those of us who think the charts are completely irrelevant. Quite a few #1's this year were the result of preorders and Calvin's headed the same way this week, also with a preorder. Rita Ora's new single is out at the end of next week with a preorder and there's plenty more coming up. If I had my way, this preordering nonsense would be done away with. It eliminates the entire point of charting, means fans have to wait and the public end up illegally downloading.
