Well since tje inpact date isn't now does it really matter that it will fall? I mean the point is the song to rise when the time comes I guess. Idk tbh. :laughga:. I just hope it is a plan.

Yes it does cos it's likely Gaga won't promote it here, therefore the two things that will make the song a success will be TV and radio play. TV are usually quicker to pick something up - for example, Jase used Drunk In love to illustrate how impact date works, and that's already peaked on TV while it's just about to pick up on radio. For a song to be a big hit, these things usually need to align at the right times. And it could be that this late impact date might mean that they don't align for Gaga.

:awkney: I never said R1 would wait until the middle of May

Well...it's just pointless having an impact day set for May when the video comes out in March

I didn't say you did, I was saying that setting a date for May is pointless and misleading because an 'impact date' doesn't really mean much. And fans in that thread were getting confused about what it actually means.

What? Obviously impact dates mean something, look at what I pointed out, Drunk In Love

I know, but it implies that's the date it is sent to radio and it climbs from there, when it isn't. It doesn't really make a difference to songs here or in the US, radios will play whenever. E.g. Applause's impact date was a week after release in the US but it didn't make a difference. You pointed out Drunk In Love, but only for Radio 1. Yeah it's the biggest station, but it's been on Capital's playlist since January and others have already picked it up. It depends on the song and the situation I suppose. We can only see what happens with G.U.Y.

I'd say I hope that date was set because of plans Gaga would come and promote it here, on Britain's Got Talent or something, but she obviously has the tour :(

The apparent technical term for an "impact date"

"Impact dates are (for the most part) for those songs which are not getting a "single" release, and the date that record companies gear the promotion towards"

Hmm it all seems very vague. Last era's post-album releases were You and I & Marry The Night, and we all know how they went, even with promo performances.

Since this date is so far away, maybe they have something planned?

I'd LOVE to think they do but my faith in her team isn't at its strongest right now. I want to be proved wrong!
