Proper Moist in the Top 10 in UK lol wtf English people have such an odd taste in music

I find it always interesting how longetivity in the UK is like 6-8 weeks in the Top 10 while Applause, a 'moderate-big' hit in the US, spent 14 weeks in the Top 10.

UK is geographically concentrated, so a hit can saturate the radio market quicker and easier.

They may not do the power rotation of a few big songs as much as US either, Certainly Radio 1 and 2 don't.

They may not do the power rotation of a few big songs as much as US either, Certainly Radio 1 and 2 don't.

But it's interesting how a song can have longetivity of like 3-6 months in North America, 3-5 months in Europe, 12-24 months in East-Asia and like 2-3 months in the UK if it's a big smash. Talking about Top 5/10.

Most artists even put their singles up for pre-order in just the UK to make their sales more frontloaded.

Another interesting observation is how the airplay is much more focused on the charts, if a song is #1 it'll be Top 3 airplay almost all the time. Meanwhile in the US, Happy is still at like 120M AI. Singles have much less radio longetivity too.

Actually, it's a flawless country when it comes to stuff like that. I'd love it if everything played on radio was fresh.

Since Gaga is kinda shooting a video for 'Venus', what are your predictions for it in the UK ?

I kinda just hope it would enter the top 40 :/

^ I'd love it even more if Venus or whichever the 3rd single be hits the top 20 - but is it plausible? I don't think so, especially towards a Venus release. If ever, such release might likely lead to her worst chart peak for an official single (i.e. not hitting the top 25).

If it's G.U.Y that is the next single....seen as the US charts Discussion did it...predictions of where G.U.Y will peak?

Normally all Gaga's 3rd singles go top 10 in the UK. But ARTPOP has waited ages for a 3rd single.

I'd say #10-30

i really want like #7-20 though :O

It all depends on how they handle the promotion and video timing. The song is good enough to get at least a week in the top ten. Say if she did like a week of Europe promo and during that did a Jonathan Ross interview & performance as well as a Voice performance, it could do decently.

At this point I'm more hoping the album can regain some life though  :ohno:

Not sure how well the new Example song will do (seen as it does look like his career is deteriorating) but the new track is doing well on Youtube especially compared to his last few singles:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wyoKWgy3SE

Not in the top 1500 on pre-orders yet but it should do okay. It's not released for another month and Radio 1 just added it to their playlist

Stay The Night is bound to give Zedd his first ever #1 hit in a major music market. It pushes me more to want his name be plastered all over G.U.Y.'s promotion just to see how much of an impact he could likely give.
