Yay

Hopefully she does a couple other shows and talks to radio one so they'll keep her playlisted until the new year

Thank God she is performing!

Applause is back in the top 100, at 88 #Longevity

Ugh I don't need Applause back at #1 - it's 8 week reign throughout Summer was enough. Now it's time for DWUW.

Imagine the rise if it is shown :flutter:

She's just bouncing back and forth between #8 and #9

Hopefully it picks up and get's to #7 or #6 before the charts end saturday night.

I want a new peak :D

I don't think she will re-peak this week, probably get #9 again or maybe #10. Who knows.

As of this morning she is up to #11 in the mids so we could possibly sneak #9 in. I doubt anything higher though unless she does brilliantly on iTunes tomorrow. But remember Animals will probably benefit from the weekend effect starting tonight too.

1D are on 187k atm :deadbanana: They will EASILY pass 200k damn

Omfgg 1D why did they do so well :O

Teenage'd girls are less likely to download or stream music for free and there will be plenty of people buying that album for their kids. All the biggest stars are marketing to kids these days, it's just depressing tbh.  :fail:

There was a big empty space where 1D's new album was supposed to be in my local Sainsbury's last night so I put copies of ARTPOP there for everybody to purchase :hor:

It's been like that forever though. Like yeeears ago when N`*SYNC opened with 2.4m first week in the US. The tween market is always a prosperous one because they tend to be very dedicated to those artists, and 1D's sales are huge because it's holiday season so parents will be buying the album for their daughters. Whether they are actually 1D fans or not, parents just think 1D is the biggest thing amongst kids, which I guess they are.

But in the same way that the pre-teen market consistently buys albums of boy band acts, they always fade away pretty quickly once the fanbase grows up. Few boy bands manage to maintain that success and they just fade away. I.e. Westlife, JLS, Boyzone. The Backstreet Boys' latest album has sold only 48,000 copies in the US. Their first sold over 10 million.

Unless 1D can transition into a more mature act that becomes successful with older women like Take That, even though that took them a decade hiatus, this will likely be their high point and they will achieve much lesser success in the future.
