It's so similar to EVERYTHING on 18 months tho, and is, in fact, similar to every other 'summer jam' that's ever been released

ia, calvin is so overrated here it's ridiculous

Ugh, Summer going to #1 because it was available to pre-order for the past 2 months. I'm sick and tired of this cheating recently to get all these song to the top. Proof that charts are completely meaningless these days. Every week for the last 8 weeks, there's been a new song debuting at the top...and then we never hear from this artist again. Casual music buyers sure do love their one hit wonders. I don't see any songs at #1 this year having the potential to go on to become legendary hits. Nor can I find anyone who knows the current #1 because music is so disposible in this country. With this mess, I don't mind so much that Gaga can't get a #1. What's the point if it'll only be there for a week and then forgotten? TEOG didn't go to #1, but the public loved it and most importantly, remembered it. Which is more than I can say for the entries this year.

Exactly, sales and longevity >>> #1 then falling into obscurity

but it would be nice for gaga to round it up to 5 #1's ;)

tbh I think she should just release a single, with an album only B side, so fans would buy it for the B Side, but it'd help it chart

33. Only Love Can Hurt Like This - Paloma Faith

SO glad this is doing well (the video only dropped today) the song is the best on the album

Yasss why/when did Our Time start to approach the top 40 instead of hanging around in the 90s?

radio ones big weekend I reckon - songs been A-listed

Radio One have been here for Lilly this era - even if the singles aren't selling great.

Really, the streaming chart is more reflective of a songs success

I think it'll be good (for gaga anyway) when the streaming is integrated into the chart, it'll definitely be a better representation of what's popular

Counting only the sales of singles is so out of date its laughable, really. Especially with regards to this year and last. You get a few big singles that everyone buys (Blurred Lines, Wake Me Up, Happy etc) but then everything else is so short lived. Tracks will be in the top 40 for like three or four weeks and then drop like a stone into permanent chart irrelevance. Streaming is far more accurate at showing what people are actually listening to, and songs will have far better, more representative, chart runs when streaming is incorporated.

GET TO WERK, OFFICIAL CHARTS COMPANY

Agreed. Streaming is the present and the future of the music industry. So if we're here for charts to genuinely reflect music popularity, then one shouldn't ignore where the bulk of music listeners are at these days. They're obviously not in record bars.
