on behalf of people like me we apologize for keeping songs charting highly way longer than they should, thereby effecting newly released songs

It's a sad day for EDM when DJ's have to rip off folk music to try to be fresh. @ avicii

So many songs from many genres take influences from different genres... Music would be stale otherwise and this is definitely NOT the first time this has happened in dance music lol. I don't see what's wrong with doing that.

A lot of people have heard WMU who don't know who it's by, because the singer isn't even given a feat. on the song.

That goes double in America.

What does that have to do with 'ripping off folk music'? I just think you don't like the song and are trying any way you can to discredit it, lol

Aloe Blacc wrote the song and did the vocals so I'm pretty sure he would've had to agree to not being credited. Especially since he's performed the song all over the place... so it doesn't seem to bother him.

It's still a power play by hotshot DJ over a lesser known folk singer. The same way Madonna and Beyonce are rumoured to extract writing credit for songs they're barely involved with.

Aloe Blanc contributed a hell of a lot more to that song than many hotshot singers with sole credit for songs they didn't write and don't sing live. At least David Guetta gives Sia a feat.

so he didnt agree with letting one of the most famous DJs produce that song?? im sure he got VERY rich on it thanks to avicii so why are you pressed?

Except Wake Me Up was his breakthrough WW hit. Levels was big too but didn't smash globally, so he was hardly a 'hotshot DJ'. And Aloe Blacc is not a folk singer lmao.

Aloe Blacc still has a credit as a writer, just not as a featured artist. So your point about 'extracting writing credit' is rubbish too.

Do you know what you're even arguing anymore? At first you were saying that Avicii ripped off folk music trying to sound fresh, and now you're getting at him for Aloe not being featured? Why are you so pressed by this song?
