craig 680
ARTPOP now #25 on itunes up from #53 the last time I checked It's gonna help ARTPOP more than X Factor finale helped Prism. Even if US rating were mediocre, they make dollars selling it around the world.

PRIMETIME. UP AGAINST NO EASTENDERS OR CORONATION STREET!!! It is? I'm gonna watch it Though I am sceptical to see how much it actually helps. We all know how deceitful it can be to look at just one retailer when it comes to albums.

Only instead of one big spike, spread more through the week,
Harry 26,836
I see no reason why it wouldn't have comparable impact on physical sales. Only instead of one big spike, spread more through the week, Because the sales on iTunes are so low that it doesn't take much to jump a load of spots, thus not having much of an impact in the overall sales. iTunes is not a reliable indicator for albums. E.g: Robbie - #15 on iTunes, #1 in official sales 1D - #21 on iTunes, #2 in official sales Gary Barlow - #49 on iTunes, #3 in official sales AM - #8 on iTunes, #18 in official sales Avicii - #6 on iTunes, #34 in official sales There is clearly a different kind of audience that buys on iTunes, especially at this time of year. Yeah the increase still implies a further interest in the album but just cos it suddenly ran up iTunes it doesn't mean it's gonna surge up the actual chart. It's even falling on iTunes already. And we weren't freaking out when it headed out of the top 75 on iTunes at the start of the week.. Are we only gonna pay attention to it when it's rising on there then? lol Hopefully the Xmas Eve airing will help too, although no ones gonna be out shopping for albums on the following day, obviously. craig 680
I think it's reasonable to hope that 2 showing of the Muppet special would get ARTPOP back in low 20's, just like Alan Carr did, It should appeal to a variety of age groups, not just kids or music fans who buy itunes. It actually presents Gaga as family friendly (unless you are hardcore conservative anti-gay).
