It's a gradual process from mid-November. Gaga might even have gained sales dropping 24 to 32.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow. I'll hope for the best :ohno:

Desperado

Albums like Nations Fave Elvis songs, Michael Buble, Susan Boyle, and various hits packages are targeted at adult shoppers and gift buyers, and will fall hard after Dec 25.

Then there is a complete revolution when kids with itunes gift cards start dominating.

but those kid arent gaga fans x.x

FML. I don't know what just happened to my computer. For no reason, it randomly closed this page while I was typing a response and then brought it back up seconds later, minus all the words I'd just written. And you know how much I write. And this was a response to Luc's post about album sales this year. So, your mind just went into overdrive imagining how much I wrote. I wasted over half an hour of my life on that. Oh, well, a brief summary is better than nothing:

Just found its chartrun, and it's way more impressive than I expected. Everybody always talks about how frontloaded BTW was, but it spent 9 weeks in the Top 5 and 22 weeks in the Top 20, while ARTPOPon the other hand... :messga: I guess public interest really IS lower than ever.

Long story short:

BTW was in the charts for 52 consecutive weeks, aka, a year. I don't know what made it sell because it only had 2 unpopular singles after its release to carry it, and it's sold nearly 1 million, so it's in no way a flop. But 2011 wasn't a normal year on the UK music scene. Adele's 21 inspired people to buying albums in 2011. Out of the 23 new albums that debuted at #1 that year, over half of them debuted with 100k or more. Even albums that debuted at #3 were selling that much. Amy Winehouse's death really encouraged sales too. Some of this rubbed off on 2012, but to much lesser extent. But this year, album debuts have been dismal. While 7 albums acheived the 100k milestone, 6 out of 7 were no surprise (JT, Buble, Eminem, 1D and so on). The only ones with a real breakthrough was Daft Punk. The bestselling album of 2013 was an album released a year ago and even though it's the best seller, it hasn't even sold a million this year. The second biggest selling album so far is the Les Mis soundtrack. There's been no excitement for albums this year. So, don't worry, the UK public doesn't hate Gaga. They've just been really apathetic about album buying this year. We just have to hope that something comes along real soon that turns it all upside down again.

So the JBB did have an effect on DWUW.

I don't think so. It might have helped a bit if they played the performance on Capital a few times today but there's nothing to suggest those green updates are because of it.

Anyway, it is in danger of falling out of the top ten due to the Pharrell song rising pretty quickly. We need the video this week I think :/

It doesn't really matter if it's not top 10 as long as it's getting green updates

Britney Spears, who served alongside Simon Cowell on the panel of The US version of The X Factor has made the Top 15 with each of the seven studio albums she issued between 1999 and 2011, but pulls up well short with eighth, Britney Jean, which debuts this week at number 34 (12,959 sales).

No sales for ARTPOP but she was 2 spots above Britney so probably around 13k, same as last week.
