Gaga is Life

It's awfully basic in its structure. It's not innovative and doesn't offer anything new. It's feels cheap and made quickly. The bridge is pretty uncreative. And while I get this is to connect it with the GP, her other successful songs weren't like this. And she's had years to get it right, to come up with the next defining song. Even if she wants to put out something from ARTPOP that is safe, it's pretty scary how basic Applause is after all this time. This is how I feel about the song. Yet it sounds very lovely and addictive and I love it so much and can't stop playing it. I love the theme, the feel of the single era. I love what she can do with the song in terms of performances and the music video. But at the end of the day, with Applause played many many times, I get this amazing urge to blast Bad Romance or Dance In The Dark to get that real feeling of hearing Gaga music again.

I get this urge as well. The music is so different when you play 'Applause' next to something released in TFM Era. Even BTW. It's so different.

Well, I like the song. I instantly fell in love with Bad Romance and Born This Way, but I didn't have the same reaction to Applause. It just seems rather generic unfortunately (for Gaga standards, at least). DJWS basically made it sound like a Calvin Harris track, which is disappointing because he has so much potential based on his work from BTW. I'm hoping the rest of the album is more experimental, like a continuation of what they started on BTW.

I will probably change my mind after the video, VMAs, and iTunes Festival. The video sounds absolutely amazing by how she described it. So I guess I'll just wait and see.

My expectation for Applause were so high and when I heard it the first time I was disappointed. After giving it a few listens I began to love the song. IMO it isn't her best lead single, but I grew to love it. My favorite parts of the song is the "bang the gong" part and the bridge Overall I'll give the song an 8.5/10

At first I was like  :laughga: because of the verses' lyrics. But then the chorus slayed me   I love the retro game intro too

I love the song, and I think it's catchy and fun etc. Do I think this was the right choice for a first single after 2 years of being gone? No. This morning, I saw the MV and I loved it! I watched it again on VEVO minutes after and I loved it even more in HD.

However, for some reason I just don't have a desire to watch it again today. I feel like I've seen it and that's it. It's hard to explain... with BR, Telephone & Alejandro, I watched them over and over again in excitement and amazement.

TBH, I just feel the best way to describe the Applause video is "messy." I hate to feel this way, and I do really enjoy the video and I think she looks gorgeous but they're just some kind of disconnect. Atleast for me. I just feel like because the song has too much going on in it that the video should have been a little simpler to neutralize the overpowering song. There's way too many concepts and ideas going on in the video. She did this with You & I, and even with MTN a little and I had hoped that she was going to dim it down a bit. Maybe the video could have been edited better so that it wasn't so fast and flashy.

This video is not going to help the sales of the song IMO and at this point, she really only has the VMAs to get the Applause sales up. Sales don't truly matter but if we are talking about sales, I don't see this video helping it in any way.

I want to be into it 100% but there's just some kind of disconnect between myself and her music/artistry as of late and this has never happened to me before.

IMO, the song is miles better than BTW but there's just something I can't describe that isn't sitting well with me this era so far.

Don't attack me because you think the video is the second coming of jesus. As stated in the title, this is my UNPOPULAR opinion, and I am aware that most of the fanbase feels differently so I don't need your reminders.
