Very Interesting!

Marina was right when she said that Gagz should embrace her human side to the public.I think that would be a great therapy for herself.Convential therapy is not really working for creative persons, I think she will learn ALOT from Marina and increase her mind and happiness.

I can't at some of you here not willing to read the whole thing...too many ADHD on this forum :lmao:

but this is Gaga at her best: pretentious and delusional, like she ALWAYS has been....and that what makes people LOVE her or HATE her, whether you believe in her artistry or not.

BEST. INTERVIEW. EVER.

Wow, words cannot describe how much I love their conversation! Great, just great.

If only this could have been a face-to-face interview to watch ...

Read it all, loved it and these stood out:

On the way people view her

"I’m someone that wants them to view me not only as a figure with many wigs, but as a figure with many wigs who has a skin tone of many colors, with nails of many paints, and the shoes of many people, with the heart of many thieves and many wise men, and an ability to transform emotionally as well as intellectually as well as humanly."

On putting on the look she had back in the day

“Does anyone really know what I went through to get here? And somehow with Inez and Vinoodh’s calm sense of confidence, their seductive artistic way, in the process I am inspired to allow the emotions to pass through me as they photograph me and I hear, ‘Beautiful, Gaga! Yes! Yes! Look at that girl!’ I’m reminded that my sense of self within the world I create provides an element of honesty and gravity to the work and it’s okay that I’m broken. I can be broken in the Cubist or Surrealist sense, like a Picasso nose, or Dalí clockâ€â€ahead of its time, not pathetic or shameful. And then I am transported back to a time I wanted to forget, I somehow still arrived at what I have become, an artist that celebrates our differences.â€

On the music video for 'Applause'

"It became this really beautiful film of me lying on a mattress and singing this song as if I was writing it in my bed for the first time. The hour that we shot was like ten years of a good sneeze or something. A really good sneeze."

On the difference between Pop Art and ARTPOP and what is art today

"The difference between what people were feeling about Pop Art and where I want to take ARTPOP. To say something is Pop Art for some artists was as simple as putting something in a museum or a galleryâ€â€it became art if it’s there. But that’s not what my feeling is about art. I don’t believe that trick works anymore. I think the real challenge is, How do I take a place that is not an artistic space and transform that space and make it into an artistic space? [...] You have to trust your ability to know at some point, that’s what makes you good. If you’ve done the research. We’re not in the age anymore where you can put the shovel in the wall and call it art. It’s over."

On being afraid to show her humanity

"What is it about my past that terrifies me? What I realized is that I just never settled the score with myself about some of my painful durations. Some of the things that I experienced with men, with the music business, with how they treat women, being a woman in a business with a lot of men, it was terrifying. It was terrifying. It was something that I truly don’t wish upon anyone."

On the change in her artistry

"It was my naïveté in thinking that my provocation or my s-xuality was artistic because of the people that I looked up to. It was that which kind of led me into my greatness, but it also led me through a darkness that at one particular point I had to endure. Like I said, I wouldn’t change anything, but I suppose that time did make a much deeper impact on me than I had initially thought. I woke up one day and there were wigs everywhere. It was the silence of the wigs. I was a serial killer of my own self. Each wig represented a different day in my life when I had to be something else because I just could not go back to that place. In order to become a better artist, at some point I was going to have to go back to the nucleus of the work, and I didn’t want to go. And “Born This Way," that whole era, was me not wanting to go. I just did not want to face any of it. I didn’t want to talk about it."

No comment, all was said.

I love that interview.

It's a great inside view of the mythology and enigma that surrounds her person and the artistry she creates!

I was surprised and a little sad to hear her say that she doesn't want to show her humanity. Good thing Marina talked some sense into her. It's the humanity that makes me stan for her.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

This i agree with. Especially if she wants to win the GP back, she needs to show some humanity side. I understand Gaga though, she doesn't people to pity her because shes been through so much. Maybe its also because she wants to keep somethings to herself, which i also agree with. She doesn't want to be private in public. She wants to be remembered as the ICON.

Why? Because I've said true things? The evidence is before us right now. There are diminishing returns on her output because she has become completely unrelatable. We can't expect her to remain a huge figure when she only appeals to a minority. As desirable as it may seem to say "Well, the general public just doesn't get it", they HAVE to get it, or else you're just stanning for a novelty act.

I read this and I didn't want to believe it but it's so true. I appreciate Gagas admiration for the fans, her music and as a student of fashion and art I am obsessed with her outfits and artistic work so reading these interviews really felt incredible. But you're completely right, it's amazing to see Gaga pushing these boundaries and incorporating art into her pop world but to have longevity the general public are going to have to relate with her which is why songs like Bad Romance did so well, as the gp have been in that position of being stuck in a bad relationship. ARTPOP could do so well for the crazy dance anthems and giving everyone the chance to just set free but could also maybe fail due to her including so much art that the gp just don't understand and if she keeps doing this then people could just be put off her and get sick of all this music and art that they have no idea how to react with.

I love it but I don't really get her. This interview was great but I don't understand a huge portion of it. She sounds a bit crazy tbh and get why so many people are turned off by her. In pop music, people don't care about all this artistry. I won't say I want her to be a normal pop star because that's not why I fell in love with her, but neither will I say: "oh, wow, I totally get her, you fans who don't understand her are idiots." I will enjoy the music she creates, the performances, the videos, her vocal skills but I give up on trying to understand her process. I can't relate to it at all. But that's ok, it gives her a certain mystique aura.

Maybe that means you should try harder to understand or to see things her way. The fact that you said "In pop music, people don't care about all this artistry" means it's the right time for ARTPOP. It's exactly what she's attempting with this project, making pop consumers care about art.

Gaga's very intelligent and it shows in this interview. Her thought process is incredible. I think everyone who doesn't "get" it the first time around should give it a second try. Some of the things she discusses are profoundly philosophical and take some thinking of your own to resonate.

I understand what she's saying but it does not resonate with me and I totally cannot relate to it because I'm not an artist, I don't think like one either. I like this part of her but I am a fan of her music and would still be even if she sat down and wrote her songs in a minute without all the meditation and artsy stuff.

I guess some will be able to resonate with her thought process but I don't and not for a lack of understanding. Philosophical thinking to me can be done by sitting down with someone and discussing things but that's not art and not how to make music and so I cannot relate to her experiences.

I'm happy that you enjoyed it, I enjoyed reading it as well.

Whether you like it or not, THIS is Gaga. For the people saying that they don't understand, and it's weird, I completely understand :)

But for the people critisizing her, that is stupid. You can't be upset with HER for being HER. Probably a lot of the negativity is the immaturity from some members, but some of you need to realize the difference between not agreeing with something someone says, and not liking someone for what they say.

I just get tired of the Gaga bashing in here. If you don't like her, cool. But don't complain about not liking her on a Gaga forum. It's redundant.

It's interesting seeing Gaga and Marina having such an in-depth conversation, they both have really brilliant and intelligent minds.

I'm gonna read it all and report back on my discoveries.

Yeah exactly my thought

I always say she should more GP friendly but it seems go the opposite direction. I don't want her to become Marilyn manson or bejork. For example the clown makeup, it will pull her more away from GP .it's creepy to see that onstreets
