Except for when it comes to balancing critical acclaim, respectable sales, and high regard from our entire civilization.

Oh please. Wrecking Ball sold 90k in its first day. Next week (monday-sunday) it sold about 200k. There are the sales. Wrecking Ball is a great ballad, just like Stay. You don't have to like it, but to deal with it ;) as I dealed with BL and HS and GS and TS

But she still managed to do it all in a way that only UPSET quite a few people, not outright ENRAGED half of the music consumer base like Miles.

Gurl the dick thing exploded.. pop music all about garnering attention and being popular. She knows what she's doing and obviously the public likes it, even though they think she's trash.

MILEY CYRUS "WRECKING BALL" BREAKES THE VEVO RECORD AND THERE ARE STILL 9 HOURS LEFT

MILEYSUS AIN'T PLAYING :legend:

Previously held by 1D for a song that didn't smash.

Such a Teen Pop idol category (with kids doing the multiple views thing).

Dangerous Man

I feel sorry for those kids who watch the WB video then.

Yes teens have impact here. We didn't manage to do it with Applause  It's still very impressive.

Omg what :dead: I just saw that Miley can steal Katy's #1 from iTunes

As I predicted Miley is no 2 and she is coming for no 1.

The video will probably be at 20 m at the 24 hours mark, if the views we see now are updated.

A Stan Was Born

Gurl the dick thing exploded...

I'm sorry this just made me laugh so hard because of how it was worded

I agree with you completely, though, pop music is all about being popular and your image more than respect. Ironically, the acts that are the most hated and reviled are cherished and treated as the gold standard decades later. I remember so many people hated Justin Timberlake and NSYNC, now everyone looks at them so fondly... I just honestly feel like Miley is just more obnoxious with the way she courts controversy, whereas Gaga does (did?) it in this all powerful, all knowing, parody-like manner. I do love Wrecking Ball as a song, though. The video just leaves me conflicted because I understand where she's coming from in terms of some of the nudity, but the sledgehammer just felt like a bit much to me I just like to give her a hard time because she's an easy target tbh

Katy isn't known for stan power - but having the #1 song in the world ensures a lot of video views.

Especially when she's one of the best video artists.

Katy's stan power is very underestimated, and yes - she'll have lots of views. I honestly am very surprised she didn't beat the VEVO record (I expected her to do so), but the views the video already has are impressive

Yes, I know what you're talking about.. even for me the sledgehammer kiss part was strange. Most pop-stars get lots of hate when they're around, and lots of love while they're gone (whether we're talking about a break or death).. that's how this industry works I guess

katy stan power is minimal, that's why she can't break the record.

the thing is, she has the GP on her side. Thus, it is gaining large amount of views throughout the week because GP only watch the video while they browse the youtube while stans/fans will watch on first day

I think WB may have in 7 days the same as Applause in 4 weeks.

it will have more than 50m for first week

Dangerous Man

WB has the potential to become bigger hit than WCS.

Miley's updates are insane D: But her team is smart, they did a ""scandalous"" video that actually comes with a likable song, so everyone will watch the video, bash her for the hammer/nudity thing and then go buy the song because it's decent.
