nick4bty 2,758
Not really, pop songs almost always get worse updates at night. Both Katy and Gaga have been getting negative updates almost every night, though Gaga has lately been able to buck the trend and keep herself flat + green in recent nights. But Katy is really swaying everyone else one way or the other with her updates. Earlier she increased so much that everyone else with dark green updates had their ratio decrease. Now she decreased so much that even the dark red updates saw their ratio increase. It seems very inconsistent to me.

Dangerous Man 9,245
The problem with Katys radio update is that it is so big that it might die soon like on before November. Applause might stay longer. "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."
Emvee 8,747
The problem with Katys radio update is that it is so big that it might die soon like on before November. Applause might stay longer. Or it could keep growing until it becomes the next over 200m AI radio hit, whereas Applause could stall at 100m. Roar is poised to dominate all radio formats, especially if it continues at the top of the itunes charts. Remember BL was receiving massive updates in the beginning too and look how long that lasted. People hate on the blandness of songs like BL and Roar, but the truth is that they are the most successful because they are the most easy on the ears. Gaga finds herself in a very awkward position between two vastly different worlds and audiences.

leoj 2
Gaga IS definitely different in terms of her success. Her lead singles must climb to be hits, and won't smash right off the bat. Like I said during the meltdowns weeks ago, she's turning into a Rihanna/Bruno-type artist with her LEAD singles. she never smashed right off the bat with lead singles, born this way was the only one to do that

Gaga's main issue is that she's caught between pop fans, and the people who expect a much higher calibre of music from her than what's dominating the charts. It's hard to please both. It's ironic, because I think this is the challenge she's trying to overcome with ARTPOP, yet the dilemma persists on these forums. It was easy for some people to write off Sex Dreams as typical pop trash and others to say Swine is too harsh for radio and will flop. I have a different opinion, but this is the state of GGD that I see on a regular basis. But, to be honest, I don't even know if Sex Dreams is the perfect formula to dominate on a scale like that of Roar or Blurred Lines. We'll just have to see. Stefani 25
gagas the only light green with all of them been dark red slay gaga, slay. Imagine tomorrow, the promo will boost her to third place at this rate and if she keeps going we might get 2nd. Hopefully, probably unlikely though anyway. However, i believe it wont top the charts probably be a hit like Applause but not like roar. She needs to build momentum to top the charts!!

It can't dominate Rhythmic or Urban, cause it doesn't feature a black person or sound R&B.
